Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Carlin Reed lives in fear, off the grid, moving from place to place. So Battle Ridge, Wyoming, a small town in the middle of nowhere, seems like a good place to lie low for a while. But after becoming cook and housekeeper to cattle rancher Zeke Decker, Carlin suspects that she’s made her first mistake. Rugged, sexy, and too distracting for his own good, Zeke is pure temptation mixed with something deep and primal that makes Carlin feel almost safe. Soon things are getting way too hot in the kitchen.

Zeke doesn't challenge Carlin’s terms: cash, dead bolts, and no questions. It is easy to see that she’s a woman in trouble. Problem is, he’s so blindsided by his attraction to her he can’t think straight. Zeke tries to stay all business, no complications—but that game plan is sabotaged the second Carlin gets under his skin. And when her terrifying past follows her to the ranch, Carlin faces a heartbreaking choice: run away from the man she loves, or put him in the crosshairs of a madman.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I liked this book, a lot.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I can't wait to reread it.

Eve (everf) | 815 comments I enjoyed RUNNING WILD. Not TOP3 material but I have no regrets. My one criticism is that sometimes the dialogue seemed very put-on and forced. Just re-read Mr. Perfect and there the dialoge between the heroine and the hero was perfect and very sexy (not crude, like sometimes in RW).

Ruthie | 17 comments I really enjoyed this book.

message 6: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments well I have the book, but today I really haven't been feeling well. I haven't read a page. I will try tomorrow

message 7: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am sorry I haven't been on recently. I was visiting my mom, and the one time I did try to log on goodreads told me to come back in an hour.

I just finished the book and I forgot how much I loved the book. I didn't see it that way, other than when Jaine thought Sam was a drunk, there was a lot of sexual chemistry that they were free to act on (with the exception of Jaine having to go on the pill, but they knew ultimately it would culminate is a sexual act.

Carlin and Zeke, on the other hand, did not have that aforementioned knowledge. They were having to resist the chemistry, not to mention, Carly was trying desperately not to get close to anyone, much less Zeke.

Angela (ladiromance) | 47 comments Running Wild is very slow moving. With an exciting plot, you'd think this story would be extremely suspenseful but it's not. This story is too bogged down with Carlin's thoughts and cooking woes. Also, there's not a lot of romance. When Zeke and Carlin did get together, it was sort of anti climactic. On chapter 24 and still not sure how I'm going to rate this one.

message 10: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments That is so interesting. I know RW as well as Shadow Woman has mixed reviews. I know I loved the book. I agree that the book wasn't a true suspense, but I could see a woman being afraid of romance. That happened to me once upon a time. Not a stalker, but an abusive husband.

message 11: by Angela (new)

Angela (ladiromance) | 47 comments Sorry to hear about that, Dee. I just think that with two excellent authors, we were sort of short changed on this one. I would be very interested to learn if LJ's influence is stronger in this story. RW does not read like a LH book.

message 12: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I know according to them they didn't even know who did what part, but I could see how LJ could influence LH. Have you read Shadow Woman? Since LH wrote that alone I wonder what you think of that book.

message 13: by Angela (new)

Angela (ladiromance) | 47 comments I have a copy of Shadow Woman but haven't gotten to it yet. I keep hoping we'll have that one as BOTM soon:-)

message 14: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments nominate it. I would be interested to hear what you think about it. Since I liked RW and Shadow Woman I really can't comment.

message 15: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Kelly | 15 comments Started it over the weekend, isn't moving along as fast as I'd liked, but I am interested.

message 16: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Been there - done that. The plot is an old, tried and true one. The execution is good, if plodding at some points. I found myself wishing the ex-boyfriend would reappear just to move things along. Not the best LH I have read, but a good romantic suspense anyway. There are some too stupid to live points in the plot, but it works out. The guy on the cover is not Zeke, it's Spencer.

message 17: by Carly (new)

Carly Carson | 60 comments I agree with Angela. I liked the book, but I thought the romance was lacking and it wasn't too sexy. I didn't notice that about Spencer on the cover. I did like Spencer. I'd like to read his story.

message 18: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments frankly the LH books she wrote before RW, like Burn, Ice, Cover of Night and Veil of Night bored me so much, this one seemed wonderful. How does this compare to Shadow Woman to you?

message 19: by Judy (new)

Judy | 2571 comments I just finished reading Running Wild yesterday and I liked it very much. I look forward to the upcoming books in the series. I wonder which of the "Men From Battle Ridge" will be featured in the next book? Maybe Spencer??

message 20: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am with you Judy. I really liked the book and I would love to have Spencer be the hero of the next book.

message 21: by Carly (new)

Carly Carson | 60 comments Dee, I agree that those books you mentioned were not the best. I thought Shadow Woman was better, but the romance (to me) was lacking. The H/h weren't together much in the book and the ending was abrupt. I'm still liking Spencer, lol.

message 22: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I agree with you about Shadow Woman. It wasn't as good as a lot of her earlier books, but it was better than Burn or Ice etc.

Wendy Kalthoff (wkalthoff) | 132 comments I hope she does one about spencer.I thought this was a fantastic book. I want kat to have her own story.

message 24: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Kalthoff (wkalthoff) | 132 comments They are nor writing about spenser. i just asked , but will be writing about kat. no spenser book coming out.

message 25: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Kat was a great character, but Spencer was so sweet.

message 26: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Kalthoff (wkalthoff) | 132 comments I agree. i asked them about a book about kat and spencer trying to figure out who the next man from nattle ridge would be about. any ideas?

message 27: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments thanks Wendy. I am glad Kat is getting her own book.

message 28: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Kalthoff (wkalthoff) | 132 comments me too. who do you think is next man of battle ridge?

message 29: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I think that it would have to be Spenser, after Kat that is. His character was the most developed.

message 30: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Kalthoff (wkalthoff) | 132 comments no she told me they were not writing about him. when i asked

message 31: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Kalthoff (wkalthoff) | 132 comments I don't want to say too much since we're in the middle of writing it and things can and WILL change. But -- this hero was no in Running Wild. A new man

This was the response I got from linda howard and linda jones, so they will not be writing about spencer,.

message 32: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Wow thanks Wendy. That is so cool.

message 33: by Carly (new)

Carly Carson | 60 comments A new man by LH is just the kind of guy you want to meet!
