I just finished reading The Return of Captain John Emmett by Elizabeth Speller, a historical mystery set in 1920 England. It deals directly with the effects of World War I. Lawrence Bertram is asked to find out why an old friend of his, and fellow war veteran killed himself. The answer is a lot more complex than Bertram thinks it will be. I would recommend this for fans of the Masie Dobbs series by Winspear or the Inspector Rutledge series by Charles Todd.
I just started Looking for Alaska by John Green. The story follows Miles Halter as he starts a new life at boarding school, with new experiences and new people (among them "the hottest girl in all of human history" Alaska Young).

After the excellence of Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, I couldn't wait to start her first book Attachments. It's set in 1999 and features a web security guy who's been reading the email conversations between two employees (it's part of his job, honest) and slowly falling in love with one of them. Sounds stalkery but so far it really isn't.
I finished Looking for Alaska, then dove into the Matched Series by Ally Condie. I'm almost done with the second book in the trilogy, and I plan on starting the Mortal Instruments series next.
