On Harris' website she says..."A blood bond may be formed when a vampire and a human exchange blood, though often it takes more than once. It also may depend on the emotional bond existing between them."

It sounds like this implies that if a emotional bond was already present before the blood bond, the emotional bond is stronger as a result...because having a blood bond does not make you fall in love, look at Pam ...she is bonded to Eric but was never been in love with him.

She's totally in love with Eric! This confirms it for me. Sookie get your head out of your ass girl!

The Flooze (the_flooze) Lol, I'm with you, Amber!

The last book drove me mad for one main reason. Our girl loves to ask questions. She'll ask questions of anyone, regardless of what misery life throws at her because she needs to know. It's why she's great at figuring out all these lil mysteries.

Yet in this book, our emotionally frazzled telepath doesn't ask for explanations regarding the bond or the pledging. Eric even says he'll discuss these things when she actually wants to know, so it's obvious she's not interested in getting the lowdown. I'm so used to her hammering away to get at the truth that I became frustrated that she was raging about Eric's high-handedness, yet never wanted to really discuss it!

Hopefully in the next book, she'll be back to the inquiring mind that wants to know. Maybe then her head will exit her rumpus. :)

Cary (vortigern) See thats what I'm talking about with series books. They are not works of art or fine literature. The author is obligated to crank out new books. Whether she has been able to come up with good new ideas or not. She has to write something and publish it. Certain rock and roll bands were trapped by that type arangement and had to put out really awful albums. The Rolling Stones did that and decided to just start their own recording label so they could put out albums when they were good and ready and had some decent new material. Harris is in the trap. What if she simply cant figure out a good new story line at all. Or not within the time limit set by her pubishers. She will have to publish the book on time anyway. Good or bad.

Yes. That was my first post and look how intelligent I sound. >.<

The Flooze (the_flooze) Kenna, anyone proclaiming The Rock as attractive has oodles of intelligence. :)

message 158: by Cary (last edited Jul 16, 2009 07:01AM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) LOL the Rock. Isn't he a championship wrestler. OMG how freakin funny. The Rock as a hotty. Man that is just ill. I picture Quinn as the old Hollywood actor Yule Brenner. Yule Breener was a star in the the original movie and stage play versions of The King & I. Have any of you guys ever seen a good play. I have seen Dracula twice as a stage play. One put on by ASU drama dept in Tempe AZ. The other version was a New York production of Dracula with Martin Landau(Mission Impossible) as Dracula. There was another New York stage version of Dracula with Frank Longella as Dracula. I wish I could have seen that one. Oddly enough I liked the ASU production of Dracula best. They had a really hot young college girl playing Lucy, and a really beautiful Tom Cruise lookin dude playing Dracula. Plays just freakin rock. Well as Michelle would say. I am straying off topic. Best person to play Quinn would be the actor Yule Brenner probably best known as the bald leader of "The Magnificent Seven". Best man for playing Quinn. But not the best man for Sookie. I am on team Bill. But I do not think Sookie will have a supe soul mate anyway in the end.

Jessica | 193 comments Pretty sure Harris has indicated she knows where the series is going for conclusion. So she's not really in any trap. She has an idea in her mind where she is going with things, she just needs to fill in the details.

But even young people have seen "The Magnificent Seven". Although he is most remembered as the bald King of Siam in the King and I. How cool that you researched him.

message 165: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Brenner...looks-wise he could fit. Too bad he's not of this era. Any Brenner look alikes wandering around today?

I'm hopeless at casting choices. I have to go look up Marsden...

Kenna (kennas) I was reading all the "team ___" posts and it gave me an idea. When I get an idea, its best that people stay out of the way. its said that a blond will explode if the idea is too big.

Anyway, check the groups photo section.

Im SO team Eric...although I thought all of them are pretty darn cute.

message 167: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie W. | 26 comments I sorta imagined Quinn as The Big Show from WWE Smackdown...what can i say, my husband is a die-hard fan. Although i love her and Eric together, i just don't see it lasting, so for Sookie and myself, i'd choose Quinn.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I have to say Quinn or Sam. I want Vin Diesel as Quinn. That is who Charlaine Harris had in mind.

Vin Diesel would be great as Quinn, that's how I picture when I think of his character :)

But for Sookie, I would totally choose Eric, will be very disappointed if they don't stay together.

message 170: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneyk) | 6 comments Well, for the real book Sookie, I would definitely explore things with Quinn. He may eventually screw something up but I think it is a crying shame she didnt give him a chance. Out of all of her potential suitors I think he is the best natured and has treated her the best. Here are my examples....

He has looked out for her safety.
Displayed an ability to not get jealous over petty things like the rest.
She can have children.
He is stable emotionaly, financially, and physically.
He is a family man.

Okay, that being said as much as I love Quinn for Sook, I on the other hand would pick Eric.
He is delicious, just bad boy enough, humorous, indulging, not too emotional, supportive, and relateable.

message 171: by Kerry (new)

Kerry (solitaryroads) | 1 comments Eric, I'm not a Bill fan... but I'm not sure Sookie has met her ideal man yet, the current ones are all after something or have an agenda to begin with, she's been too caught up in it all, her feelings have become too clouded with the supernatural. Eric is the right guy, right now, but I'm not sure long term.

For me it's easy, Eric!

Cary! Eric is not gay for cryin' out loud!

I like both Bill and Eric (and Quinn!). But I love Sookie with Eric in the books. On the show, I definitely feel their off screen chemistry and like Sookie with Bill. They're so different!

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments If I were choosing at this point, I'd totally pick Eric. My Magic 8 Ball tells me he won't be the one, though...

message 174: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Logan (tnashes) | 7 comments I have to say that I'm for Eric all the way! Of course I am a girl that is attracted to the "bad boy" types. I just think that Eric is more interesting as a character than Bill. I think life with Bill, especially if it is eternal life, would be totally boring. At least with Eric there is something always going on, good or bad. I like Quinn too but all and all I hope Sookie and Eric stay together.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) If I were Sookie, I would pick Sam. :)

message 176: by Amy (new)

Amy (mommy_of_angels) | 15 comments At first I would have said Bill, but as I got further into the books, I am now an Eric girl. So I would have to say..ERIC!

message 177: by AC (new)

AC (httpwwwgoodreadscommamasanace) | 1 comments I am as obsessed with Eric as he is with Sookie! So I would pick Eric.

I think Alcide or Sam are good matches for Ms Stackhouse, but I was also sad when she broke up with Quinn the werepanther.

message 178: by Angela (new)

Angela (angbens) Eric! (Alcide would have been a good match too...)

message 179: by Emily (new)

Emily Finch (emilyfinch) Eric. Easiest choice I have ever made!

message 180: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (nat_ethereal) | 13 comments I would pick Eric!!!

But the same thing goes as others have already said, if I wanted kids...Sam with no reservations.

I reckon if Sookie does not become a vampire she will end up with Sam...

message 181: by [deleted user] (new)

While my favorite character's Eric and I'd like for Sookie to be with him, I don't really see it happening. Even though it's apparent they both care for eachother, regardless of her blood bond to him. For as someone already stated, she seemed to already start liking him long before. I just don't think Sookie could get past the fact that she'd not have much of future with him, for the fact she couldn't have children and the aging factor, unless he turned her. Which I don't see her wanting.

As for Bill, I think her emotions are to conflicted. In her mind he's hurt and decieved her to bad and I don't think she'd ever be able to forgive him for that. Even though he didn't do it intentially. For in both cases, he had no control. He had to go to his maker and he had to obey his queen. But since Sookie's thinking more with her heart, she's most likely not going to bother with the logic of the situations. Which I can't say I blame her for.

An as for who I think would be best for her, I'd say Alcide. I'm not much of a fan of his, but Sookie seems to have developed a special attachment to him and I could see it growing in to more and he seems to care for her, as well. That and he could still give her kids, even though they won't be fully human. So instead of the "safe" choice being Sam, I think Alcide would be a good match for her. 'Cause he could bring her happiness and still keep things exciting. But that's just my opinion.

An if I were Sookie, I'd most likely pick Eric. For the simple fact, I love everything about him. But I've always had a thing for the bad boys, so that's most likely why lol. That and the fact, I never really thought about having kids. Not to say I don't like them, I guess they're just not for me. So that wouldn't be a problem for me, if it meant being with Eric.

message 183: by Chela (new)

Chela (chelah) | 8 comments Bill is a liar. If he had come clean in the beginning to Sookie about the Queen she would have helped him. No question. Lying just proved he cares more about saving his own @ss then he does Sookie. He did almost die trying to save her but his efforts are a day late and a dollar short. I think that old adage never miss a well until the water runs dry applies here. It also applies to Sam. Sookie worked with him for a while before Bill came along but it's only when her attention is trained on someone else does he express interest. Eric on the other hand had no problem going for what he wanted since the first moment they met. Eric would be my choice for Sookie but even he has his draw backs. I know he loves her but it's been a while since Eric has loved someone so it's a learning curve for him. Then I wonder if he loves power too much or is he just trying to secure his place in the vampire hierarchy to ensure Sookie's safety. And then with all that said Sookie wants to get married and have babies to grow old gracefully with someone. Eric can't give her that. Which makes me wonder if she would be better off with someone altogether different ( But only if there is no magical way to make Eric human again of course). Alcide well, maybe I'm conflicted about him as a character. He and Sookie have a special relationship that you just can't define. But even with that said he has a lot of issues with his pack. He's alpha (pack- master) and that will always be his first priority. Sookie deserve to be number one in someone's life. She has too much baggage already so she definitely doesn't need to carry someonelse's.

I finally figured out that it is probably Eric but took me awhile. I think in vampire hierarchy if a higher in the pecking order vampire gives an order to a low one like Bill then the lower vampire has to obey no matter his feelings. I believe The Queen of LA issued that order to him so he had no choice. It was the same when the woman who made him insisted he go to see her....in MS?

Yeah, if a higher ranked vampire or maker of said vampire gives an order it has to be followed.

message 188: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) But the Queen didn't order Bill not to tell Sookie what was going on. Eric proved this by forcing Bill to tell her the truth about why he wanted to meet her.

So, even tho he was ordered to go meet her and to try to attach her, he COULD have told her that the Queen in LA wanted him to meet her and to protect her or whatever. That way, Sookie would have had a better idea of what was going on. But Bill didn't tell her anything. Which, btw, was a REAL failing of his. He never wanted to tell her anything, and just expected her to let him make the decisions, while being this fragile, clinging thing. Which, when you think about it, was a VERY Victorian outlook to have.

Eric on the other hand, doesn't expect her to "lean on him" for all her ideas and things, but again, that's part of when he was born. Back around the 8th/9th/10th centuries, women were viewed as being a LOT more "able", especially in the Norse culture, since the women were expected to take care of things around the home during the summer while the men were out a-Viking.

Couldn't agree with you more. 'Cause not only do I dislike Bill, it'd be a huge letdown to the fans of the books in my opinion. 'Cause it'd take away a major part of the storyline and it just wouldn't be right to me. So I'm hoping they don't decide to do that.

Exactly, it would be like you read the whole series for nothing...like I love Sookie, but not with Bill. I am not sure who she will end up with though...Harris said that even though her and Eric have a strong-link, which has nothing to do with their blood-bond, he would always be selfish and choose himself first...at least that is what I read in an interview...hope it might change though.

Definitely. The producers of the show would not only be letting Charlaine's fans down, but I'm sure her as well. Since she created the series and I know if I was in her shoes I'd want the series to closely resemble my books. So here's to hoping, they don't change it up to much.

An I couldn't agree with you and Charlaine more. It's been obvious since the first time Sookie met Eric, they had strong chemistry. An all around, I just think they're better suited.
