message 155: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (hopeless-wanderer) Thanks. It's nice to know that people care.
I don't think I'll physically harm myself anymore. At least I hope not. I don't want to do it. My life is literally horrible. There are huge problems here at home and one by one things are just tearing me down. One of the things eating at me the most is that I'm a murderer. (I mentioned it on the Prayer Requests thread... page 23 if your interested).... don't know where I'm going with this.
I have no social life (don't really want one), I can't talk to anyone, and things that I used to enjoy I don't enjoy anymore. People annoy me so I lock myself in my room as much as possible. I barely eat anymore. I know it isn't right but I can't stop myself....
Sorry. I'm sure alot of that didn't even make sense. :/

message 156: by [deleted user] (new)

No, that made a lot of sense, don't worry.

Firstly, Rachel, you can't blame yourself for what happened to your dog. I know that emotions, particularly ones like guilt, go past the point of logic, but seriously, it's not your fault. Things happen, you know? The bible says that if you hate someone you've committed murder in your heart. And let me tell you, I've hated a heck of a lot of people in my day. By the Bible's definition, I'm a murderer. But you know what? Jesus loves me anyway. He forgives all sins - including lying, adultery, and murder. So don't beat yourself up over it, okay? I'm not just saying it's not your fault to make you feel better. I'm say that it's not your fault because that is the truth. Rachel, listen to me. It is not your fault. Okay? If you ever need anyone to rant to, seriously, I'm here for you. Sometimes it's easier ranting and talking to strangers who you might not meet on this earth, you know. :)

In terms of what else you said, lacking a social life in itself isn't a bad thing. Locking yourself in your room in itself isn't a bad thing. But the combination of the two, added with the guilt of what you're dealing with, and not eating, well that can make up a pretty bad combination.

I want you to understand something, Rachel. When you were talking about not self-harming anymore, you said "At least I hope not." That's the wrong way to think about this. Self-harming may seem like something you just have to do sometimes. I seriously understand that craving really well. I know what it's like to feel like you absolutely have to cut, otherwise you won't be able to make it through another day.

But Rachel, this isn't something you just hope stops and watch how things pan out. This is your choice. 100% in your hands, your choice. You are the only one who can decide for yourself whether you'll let this become an addiction or whether you'll get rid of it here and now. Of course you have our support and help if you need it, and Jesus is always with! But it's your choice. God gave us free-will. So don't just hope that you can stop. Just stop! I promise you that you're capable. I've done it, and so can you.

Again, if you ever need anything, I'm always here for you, Rachel. And God promises you that He will NEVER leave you and NEVER forsake you. And God doesn't break His promises. He is always there for you, Rachel. And He seriously loves you so freaking much. :)

message 158: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 09, 2014 04:58PM) (new)

I'm just really frustrated that the enemy makes it seem like people who self-harm or have eating disorders or other addictions like that can never get free. I spent months thinking that I'd never be free, that I'd always struggle with my addictions, and I knew that they'd kill me if I didn't stop them, I just never knew when. So I was always like "Is today the day? Will my addictions kill me today?" And it's such a freaking lie! Who says that I can't stop? Who says that I have to struggle with addictions for the rest of my life? The enemy, that's who. And I'm so sick of watching him convince a generation that they'll never be free.

Addictions are hard, I get it. I've been there, done that, bought that stupid t-shirt. But you know what? Nothing is impossible with my God. And I will tell and re-tell my story as many times as I have to - even if it's awkward, even if it hurts a little, even if it's uncomfortable - because I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did. I'm tired of watching girls and boys destroying themselves because the devil's an evil sadist.

Guys, I'm so looking forward to kicking his butt, like it's not even funny. It's gonna be so epic. Anyone wanna join me? ;)

Jacklyn | 525 comments I know what you're going through...my brother got kicked out and now I feel lonely and oddly...sad. I never thought I would say it, but I will. I miss him. And somehow I kind of feel like it's all my fault.
But seriously...who am I kidding? It might be my fault or might not be. The one thing I DO know, even if I choose to ignore it sometimes and try to ease my pain with earthly things...God is ALWAYS forgiving and ALWAYS there.
Sometimes the thing of being a Christian is to go by what you CAN'T feel rather than what you do...

So how's everyone doing, hmm? How ya'll been? And say "I'm okay" if you're not - honesty is key, my dears, honesty is key. :)

message 166: by [deleted user] (new)

Feeling rather anxious about things that are happening lately. I know I need to let it go and leave it to God, as there's really nothing I can do at this point. *Sigh* Other than that, I'm greeaat!

How've you been?

message 167: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments ah. you pulled the honesty card. well, if I am to be very honest, I have felt the most emotionally unstable in years. life feels like a tornado and I'm dealing with so many things that I have to forcibly block thoughts as I work on others, in order to maintain functionality. I feel like I'm losing things about myself that I always considered inherently part of who I am.

yeah. but I'm getting through. one step at a time. every breath is never taken alone. every step never taken alone. every day I've never been alone. so, problems may come in chains, as they say. all at once - but God's help and love raise up a standard to that flood, as Isaiah said, and those chains will never bind me. :)

Sam made me think of these scriptures:

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19)

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper. (Isaiah 54: 17)

And Cari, isn't it awesome to know that a 'starbreather' and someone who created matter and energy...knows how many tiny strands of hair is on YOUR head? If you think of it like this;

How much hair do you lose all the time? And God knows how much is on your head. So...see my point? He would have had to have JUST counted, which means he is watching over you ALL THE TIME. Sweetastic stuff!

I've never thought of it that way! :D That's a great way to put it.

It IS awesome. And I love how you called God a Starbreather. *Cue story idea*

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. Psalm 33:6 :)

You girls are great at reminding me of scriptures. xD

message 197: by Jacklyn (new)

Jacklyn | 525 comments Sometimes the best moments in life are when we were too broken to think about anything else. When you get there, all you can think about is God, and why he's mean, evil...the excuses go on and on...

And then He somehow changes the way you think, gives you a new perspective. Your problem is not what needs to change, it's your PERSPECTIVE on the problem.

Jacklyn wrote: "Sometimes the best moments in life are when we were too broken to think about anything else. When you get there, all you can think about is God, and why he's mean, evil...the excuses go on and on....."

So, SO true. It's about our perspective. And we forget that HE is a God that knows all and sees all - into the past, the present, and the future. He knows every outcome, He sees each tear that falls, He hears our thoughts, our prayers that we can't even voice. He numbers every strand of hair on our head.

And we often question God's plan... How utterly ridiculous we are!

message 200: by Jacklyn (new)

Jacklyn | 525 comments I know! Though my friend is helping me understand just how much our life is for God. David prayed to God and said "Against You and You alone I have sinned." He killed someone and slept with someone else that wasn't his wife, and he said he didn't sin against them? I was confused until she pointed out...

The death in our hearts puts us at enmity with our Creator, whom we were made to love and be loved by. It makes us distrust and avoid and hide from Him. (Even as Christians!) Our sin is against God...not people. Hear me again. ALL sin is against God... not people. Why?

Because sin is an offense to infinite holiness and purity - which God is, and which no person is. That's why David could murder and commit adultery and have the nerve to say that God and God only he had offended. It was God's broken law. God's outraged heart.

Hey, I thought this was pretty cool!
