Callista Flores | 11 comments Warning - Crazy theory alert. Not really a spoiler unless you haven't read as far as CoG and CP2

When I was looking at the tarot card for Jonathan Shadowhunter(King of Blades), I noticed that he has golden eyes. Not all that exiting unless you consider that when know of only two shadowhunters with that eye color, Jace and James Herondale.
This got me thinking, what if the Herondales are descendants of the first shadowhunter. Remember Jonathan turned most of the shadowhunters with the Mortal cup, so they are not all his descendants.
We also don't know were the eye color came from. Jace's parents had blue eyes, and James' (Will and Tessa) had blue and gray eyes.

Kaylah Eiramenna Carrell (wearebutdustandshadow) | 117 comments That's a really good theory!!! Maybe that's another reason why he's so powerful!

Kaylah Eiramenna Carrell (wearebutdustandshadow) | 117 comments Wait isn't the color of the heavenly fire gold???
maybe Johnathan Shadowhunter had the fire of heaven coursing through him.....
hmmmmmmm

Kenni Well Jace has angle blood because of the experiments that Valentine did. So I assume that he got his golden eyes because of his angle blood. IDK about James Harondale, can you remind me who he is? I don't remember him from the stories.... but anyway that's my theory for Jace's golden eyes.

James Herondale is a ancestor of Jace's. He was Will and Tessa's son from the Infernal Devices series. TID is the other shadowhunter series Cassie wrote and it takes place in the 1800s.

Jamile (jamilemsilva) | 88 comments Interesting theory, I like it :)
Maybe in the new series by Cassie "The Dark Artifices" we will find someone with golden eyes just like these amazing shadow hunters. If wen I read it someone is described with having golden eyes I'm gonna freak out.

"Los Angeles, 2012. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood. Raised in the Los Angeles Institute, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian. As Emma hunts those who caused the death of her parents, the trail they’re following leads back to those they’ve always been taught to trust. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with Julian — her closest friend and, because he is her parabatai, the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica."

Cant Wait :D

Ok, thanks. I've read TID, but I don't really remember much about James. It must have mentioned him in the epilogue or something. Could James have had the golden eyes because of the way Tessa's angel marked Will??? I think the golden eyes would all come back to the angels, but I'm not really sure.... my theory is that the golden eyes would be linked to angles, though.

Ave Binks (somuchtoreadsolittletime) | 16 comments Hmm..., interesting:) I like this theory, but if your talking about the gold eyes coming from angels through a direct blood line, Jace isn't the only experiment by Valentine that was given additional angel blood, Clary was too and she has green eyes. Maybe Jace and James really did inherit the gold eyes from Johnathan Shadowhunter- that would just add the awesomeness that plagues the Herondale name :)
