Hey ya'll! I'm not sure where to put this question so I'll just ask it here. I'm trying to create a non-cliche vampire and I'm having trouble, anyone care to help?
Non-cliche as in not Twilight-esque or non-cliche as in different from a regular vampire?
Yea, physically different (and abilities), or different in terms of personality?
Um well I just started watching Vampire Diaries so I have that floating around in my head and I want to make a character like Damon but not a copy.

Aw I can't believe you guys!! It's such an amazing show!!!! Well...there's no other vampire shows I can compare it to...
So...in order to become a vampire you need to drink vampire blood, die with that blood in your system, and then feed on human blood in order to complete the transition. Most vampires can't walk in the daylight because the sun burns them (and they don't sparkle) but a few of them have these family rings with some kind of spell over them that allows them to walk in the sun. They have super strength, super speed, super sight, super hearing, and something called compulsion which is like mind control. They bleed but they also have super fast healing so it's not really an issue. Like Twilight, as much as I hate to admit there are similarities, drinking human blood makes them stronger than drinking animal blood and the longer they go without blood the weaker they get and the stronger the craving gets. They can be killed with a wooden stake to the heart and wooden bullets can temporarily disable them. Holy water and garlic don't do anything to them. That's all I can think of for now but if I think about something I missed, I'll mention it.

Usually the vampire feeds them their blood. Either by force or not. The only reasons I can remember that a vampire would turn a human is because they were bored or in love. There were a few other reasons but I can't remember them.
Love is definitely cliche. Unless it was the only way to let that person survive a fatality and allow them to live loving their other love that isn't your characters.
A fun one that I enjoy about Vampires is when a vampire is bored and decides to turn a hunter/nemesis that spends the rest of their life hunting that vampire, all so the vampire can have something exciting in their life. But usually that means the vampire is too powerful to be considered a balanced character.

That's the problem. Oh! Revenge was another reason.
I like that one, but it's a bit of a weird way to take your revenge. Like, 'Hey, you pissed me off, so I'm going to make your existence eternal just like mine. It will be miserable, but we'll be miserable together. Forever.' You'd have to explain why they decided on that particular form of revenge.
Yeah but it's like "Hey, I can make your eternal life a living hell until I decide you should finally die."But more for the character. I think I have that figured out.

I've been waiting for this kind of thing for a long time, but haven't the intiative or experience to do it. Could you look at my character for the Elder Scrolls group? It would mean so much to me, Kenz! ^.^

My friend's really into that show, but I've never seen it. I only know a little bit here and there.

No problem! I'm making a character right now, by the looks of it she is going to be done in four parts, but I am just trying to get the skeleton of her right now, and trying to find a template that includes everything I an looking for in her... It is trickier that it looks.
It really is. I usually spend forever on completing the personality, really, the other parts I fill in quickly enough. I always have a good idea in mind of what the personality of the character is, but I have to be in the mood to put it into words.
I know! Especially on boy characters, It takes me up to a week or two just to get one thing done on them! I just have so much trouble trying to get into the head of a boy. Speaking of templates, when KENZ is on, I might suggest a template topic where people can post their templates and others can use them, that might make it a little easier for me and others.

@Kataury: I am pushing myself to make boys charries, because I just opened up a new group and I am trying to even out the boy to girl ratio, so I'm hoping to get better at it soon!@Kenz: Hey! did you see my suggestion for this group? I'm just looking for a good template and I think that a template thread would be a good idea!
