Trinity (tsundokuproblem) The book is always better!
Read the book first!! Always read the book first! :-)

Trinity (tsundokuproblem) It never helps to see the movie first. The movie is usually different and may change your opinion on the book.

Kristie | 5929 comments Ok, I haven't read the book yet or seen the movie, so I might not be the best person to answer this particular question. However, I want to throw out there that sometimes it IS better to see the movie first. For example, I read the Silver Linings Playbook before seeing the movie and it ruined the movie for me. I just thought the book was so much better and everyone raved about the movie. So, I do see a benefit of seeing the movie before reading the book sometimes. I think this works best when the movie is very different from the book.

With that said I am hoping to read the book before seeing the movie, as I usually do. I don't know how different the movie is going to be from the book and I don't want it to give anything away for me. So, I would probably recommend reading the book first.

Trinity (tsundokuproblem) Well, everyone usually likes what they read/watch first.

message 9: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (readinbooks) I usually can't read the book if I saw the movie first. Although usually if I read the book, I do not like the movie. Usually I go for one or the other.

I strongly agree &.
Read the book...(it's always 10x better)... you'll understand the movie better.
...& perhaps like the movie less...

Ebony Read the book first because the movie's almost always never do the books justice. And the book cover has a way hot guy on the front. :{D I know u dig the stache.

Sharlyn Lam (sharlynlam) | 26 comments Movie adoptions of books are never as good as reading the book itself. Personally I think it's partly because in a book you can read what a character is thinking/contemplating, subtle details whereas on screen it is not often captured

Patricia Hargraves | 94 comments Typically I read the book first, but now that I have seen the trailers I think I would have rather seen the movie first. The characters in the movie don't look like I pictured them. Maybe the movie script and the acting will make a difference?

message 16: by Rianne (new)

Rianne Heartfilia (glindaaaaaa) I think I'm not going to read the book first. I want to read it anyway. So if I see the movie, it can't be a dissapointment. Sometimes with a few movies who are not filmed like the book, they are a dissapointment after the book. So now I can enjoy the movie and book.

Does it still make sense?

message 17: by Marta (new)

Marta (marta2602) | 15 comments My recommendation: read the book first. =) It's always better than the movie, at least for me. =) The movies somehow always disappoint me...

message 18: by Adri (new)

Adri (jadri7) | 76 comments Read the book 1st. I'm usually disappointed with the movie adaptation, but if I watch the movie 1st, I've found that I don't usually go back to read the book.

Selma | 28 comments READ it first, then see the movie.

message 21: by M.E. (new)

M.E. Don't see the movie. I suggest reading the book first if one is insistent on seeing the film. However, I know this movie is going to destroy the book. The trailer is awful. It looked as if it was quickly put together and not much care was put into developing the story. I have always found that books which have been turned into bad movies eventually ruin a person's experience with the book. (If anybody remembers the first Twilight movie, you'll know what I'm talking about). In the case of Harry Potter, I saw the movies first then read the books. The Harry Potter movies enhanced the stories for me, which should be the result of any book that had been turned into a film.
