Pronunciation Guide ~ How Do I Say...?

Oh my goodness, do NOT start talking to me about the English language. EVER. So I shall now proceed to talk about it. XD Just a short story. ;)
My mother and I were researching towns in different countries from which our family originated. There was one in Poland which had originally had a German name, which we could pronounce, however it had been changed to a Russian name, which we couldn't. However if it had been written in the Russian alphabet (Cyrillic) we would have been able to, because we know how certain letters in that alphabet are pronounced and that pronunciation never changes, unlike English. So, we still don't know how to say it. XD Lol
So, my opinion of this language is becoming lower every day.
I feel a bit devastated for a minute or two when I find out that I've been pronouncing a character's name wrong for the WHOLE series.
The main character from this months read(Illusive) is named Ciere. I've been pronouncing it See-Air. Is this right? Also I'm always coming across words that I am unsure how to pronounce, does anyone know of any good pronunciation websites, I don't really like the dictionary.com ones.
Thanks so much for the recommendations. I saw John Green using one on Mental floss and I've been searching for it every since lol

Reading a guide to english grammar and punctuation. The author spends the entire book contradicting themselves and saying stuff like: This is the rule, unless you're talking about this, or that or that or that.
*facepalm*
