Maree I am currently reading The Asian Saga by James Clavell. So far I have been reading in publication order (King Rat and then Tai-Pan) but am wondering whether it would be better to read in chronological order.

Either way, Shogun in next in line to read but after that should I read Noble House (pub order) or Gai-Jin (chron order)? Or does it make no difference?

Gary Welch Noble House is a great read, I loved it! Gai-Jin was near the bottom of the Clavell books for me, good but no where near great. But in the end its good to read it in time line order, due to there is a few names that get carried over from one book to the next.

Hi Gary
Thanks for the reply! I'll look forward to reading Noble House.

Raptori I don't think it makes much difference which order you read them in, since they're only loosely connected. That said, I'd recommend chronological order simply because that way you'll spot the internal references, but it's not really a big deal either way.

Completely agree with Gary; Gai-Jin was definitely among the worst of the series, and Noble House is one of the best.
