Totally made a mistake on describing Exhalted, I was getting it mixed up with the Extraordinary series, which also was a good series. In Exhalted, it's a group of children that grow up in a facility for a their grown up years that are learning to protect the city. At the end they have to compete against each other to see will be chosen as the Exhalted. Similar to this novel a bit....anyway, I thought it was very good. I'm not good at descriptions of novels, so if you really want to get a good run down at what it's about you might have to look it up...and hey, you are at Goodreads already...what luck lol
