Bryce gave a small, almost sad smile, and got up. "I uh, I have to go. Thank you for letting me stay for a while."
Bryce took a deep breath and held it before turning and starting back down to his house. He let it out as he walked, his thoughts so mixed up he couldn't focus very well.
((I could maybe have Bryce cause an accident... He could be having a nightmare or something and his powers freak out?))
Sleep was never something that had come easy to Bryce, but that night he slept almost before his head even hit the pillow. The test had tired him out immensly, as if using his powers that much had simply drained him. That was what he had chalked it up to.
But the much needed sleep came with a plague.
It had started out slowly, as if trying to build up to something terrific. He was in a white room, and he could nearly feel the frozen air penetrate his skin to turn his bones into ice. His teeth were aching, their roots freezing with a deep throb from the cold. But inside he was burning, a wet, sickly burn that crawled and bubbled up his throat like it had a mind if it's own. Suddenly he was choking on it, his breaths catching inside themselves. Bryce coughed and coughed as he fell to his knees, but it just made his chest suck for more air. What was he choking on?!
Splat. A wash of red stained the clean white floor, and dripped down off Bryce's lips like a mortal rain. The coppery taste of the blood spread from his tongue to his nose and all through. It was all he could feel. The bubbling, the burning, and the sick taste of his own blood. He was coughing blood, that could only mean death. He was going to die, he was about to -
The ceiling was above him, plain and innocent as ever. But Bryce's heart was racing, beating a hundred times a second as if it hadn't a moment to lose. What... Was that? He had never had a nightmare before. Strugging to sit up, Bryce's hand went to his throat which still hurt from the sympathy pain.
((You can pick what kind of accident he made. Doesn't matter to me. ^.^))

((Yeah, I really wanted to do that... But I thought it was a little early... Him and Julian only had a couple words together and that's it. Not really nightmare worthy material. :P I drew a blank so I used one of my own nightmares.
Sure, sounds good. :) ))

((Dude, I've totally been trying... I simply can't do it without making them really goofy little cartoons. I was thinking more of doing something close (but a little more abstract) about them... That okay? I've been so busy lately too I can't haul paper around with me. :P
Good to hear. ^.^ Movie was good then?))

((LOL good! I don't know if I want to see it... I hated The Lightning Theif. They cut out my favorite parts of the story, and they changed Annabeth's hair. -.-
Awwwww I think that's cute. Kind of like a 'wolf lover' thing. -^.^-))

((:D Yaaaaay~!
Alrighty... Btw I replied in Sky/Josh, if you want. ))
He got up because he was frozen. Surprisingly, Bryce's knees were weak beneath him... But he managed to get out onto his front step easily enough.
For a moment, he thought that maybe he was still dreaming.
Everything was... Different. As he watched, the stones making up the gravel walk sprouted legs and began to scatter across the ground like little spiders. Several trees were glistening in the moonlight under a pure silver bark, their leaves stiff in the wind. Glancing down beside the step, he saw the grass was like a black rubber substance, sticky and fake. Puddles from the overnight rain were an opaque white, seemingly made of milk now. A massive boulder by the road had grown stony wings and a tail, a toothy mouth opening wide to let out a loud roar.
Bryce sucked in a breath. Oops.

Bryce, somehow noticing the fall despite all distractions, winced and started slowly across the lawn. Coming closer, his wince became even more as he recognized Julian on the slick ground. Was there no God? "Oh, I'm so sorry Julian," Bryce reached down to help him up, not realizing he was just in pjama pants. It was the middle of the night after all.

Bryce's face was pained. "I... Don't know." He said, turning to look at the fantasy land behind him. "I got up because I felt sick, and then there was... This." He waved at the landscape. "I didn't mean to..." He felt awful. How could he fix it? Would they kick him out?

Bryce looked over at him, his eyes curious but reserved. "Really?" The word came out a little quietly. "How'd you fix it?"

Bryce seemed a little dissapointed. "Ah." A pebble spider crawled across his barefoot and he shook it off in annoyance. "Then I guess I'm screwed. I - I mean I can't fix it." He quickly amended. "I'm only in Orange class... I nearly died during the test yesterday." It was more or less the truth. Who would've known what would have happened if Rachael hadn't been there? "Do you think they'll be..." Pissed? "Do you think they'll be upset?"

It was relieving to hear it in someone else's words. Nodding, Bryce kicked a stony spider away and looked over at Julian. "Yeah," he said. "Yeah that would be nice." He wouldn't sleep after that nightmare anyway. "If you don't mind, Julian."

Bryce nodded, glancing at the last silver tree before the massacre dissapeared behind them. Good. He walked with his hands clasped behind his back in an almost stiffly polite way. "I can see," He said quietly, letting his eyes roam over the scenery around them. "It is beautiful. You come out here every night?"

Bryce hid his surprise. So he really didn't sleep. "Oh. How come you don't crash and burn without sleep then?"

Bryce nodded. That made sense. "Yes," he nodded, looking off into the land. "That's very possible." God how he wished he could... Was it called? Flirt? Yeah, he wished he was able to flirt. It just was so awkward around Bryce... He had been so raised out of that... He really liked Julian, but he couldn't do anything about it.

Bryce nodded, only letting a small and polite smile across his face. "Yes, I would like that. Thank you." He hid the enthusiam he felt inside. "That's just what I need, I believe."

Bryce smiled and glanced at the ground modestly. "That is the prevailent opinion, I hear." He said quietly. There was one question he wanted to ask, but there was no way he was about to... Not so quickly. "Uhm, I suppose I would ask you when you first learned you were different?"

Ouch. Bryce bit the inside of his lip as a punishment when he knew he had asked the wrong question; just as he was trained to do. "Oh," he said, voice a bit more subdued now. "I'm sorry. That's... Horrible."

Bryce hid his frown and shrugged. "I'm not here to pass judgement," he said honestly, letting the care easily slide off his shoulders. "I don't think you would have hurt anyone without a reason."
Bryce smiled a little shyly and nodded, understanding now. "I... I never really knew for sure," he said truthfully. "A couple strange things happened around me, kids avoided me at my school like I was a plague... I used to freeze my parent's dinner parties so everyone had to leave. I put my father in the hospital by strangling him with the copper in this - " He fingered the dogchain around his neck. "But I didn't really kill him. The machines keeping him alive went haywire when my mother forced me to visit him. Maybe... Maybe that was me..."
