Bryce nodded, quiet for a moment. "They do seem nice." He said after a moment, taking his drink and looking at the small bubbles with interest. "Arthur really helped me out today... He even let me put my test off until tomorrow so I could come to the party."
"Yeah?" Bryce perked up a little. Here was something he could make talk out of. "What can you do? If you don't mind me asking..."
Bryce blinked. "Oh." He glanced around at all the faces laughing, yelling, drinking... All on mute. "That's really cool..."
Bruce gave him a smile, hiding the grimace inside. That was how he had killed his father, by strangling him during an arguement. "I suppose it would be handy that way."
Bryce followed behind Jake silently. He did a little scoping of his own, scanning the faces among the crowd curiously. So these people were like him... There was some comfort in that. Maybe he wouldn't be a freak while hidden in the mosh of others.
Knowing it was always more couthy to sit next to the person who invited you, Bryce chose the seat next to Jake. "Hello."

Bryce smiled a little and put his hands on his knees politely. "Thank you." He said, smirking a bit at the brooding comment.
"So, uhm," Bryce silently cracked his knuckles under the table (a nasty and unbecoming habit he had, so his parents had so often said). "How long have you been at Victory Hill?" He asked everyone in general, letting his gaze flick between each person evenly.
Bryce blinked. "Wow, okay. So fairly long." At the moment, to hear about people living in this place for years on end was a little incredible. But maybe that was because he had just arrived... "I'm on day one."
Bryce's throat tightened up but he managed to hide it somehow, shrugging and nodding simultaneously. "He's... Dark." He said with a small smile. "But he seems nice enough. Nice enough to hold a conversation with me for a little while."
Bryce was quiet for a moment, then curiosity got the best of him and he decided to ask. "The trio?"
"Ah." Bryce stared for a moment, registering this. "Bad group..." He would like to see them try and be 'bad' to him. "Thanks for telling me. Seems like Julian's power would fit right in there... Why isn't he part of the trio, then?"

"There's a police force?" Somehow, it surprised him. I mean, of course there would be patrols and guards to make sure the kids didn't leave the site... But a task force which included the test subjects? "Why... Why would they have a police force made of, uhm..." He struggled for a polite, and undiscriminatory word. "People like us?"

"Oh." Bryce, with a thoughtful frown, nodded simply. "Alright." To be honest, he had a million questions. But then, his entire life he had a million questions floating in around his mind... He was just so obediant he never got a chance to break his living silence and actually ask them. "Thank you."

"I honestly don't know," Bryce shrugged. "I would like to go, but I don't really know how to join. Is it an open invitation kind of trip? Or closed party?"

Bryce nodded. "So I would have to consult Sam about joining the trip, then." It made sense. He liked the way Victory Hill operated...
Bryce gave a small, almost embarrassed kind of smile and nodded. "Sam's a nice guy," he said, trailing off. "I didn't think this place would be so... Pleasent."

"Oh, so you too." Bryce raised his eyebrows and nodded understandingly. Not too far off from what he had expected as well. "But uhm, it couldn't really be any further from that, I suppose. Considering where we are now."

Bryce considered telling the truth. He really did. But, figuring he would like a little more than just a couple hours of getting to know people, he ended up just shrugging. "Uhm, I don't really know. I haven't been here long enough to say."

Bryce gave him a smile and nodded, reaching out to shake hands with him again. "I will. Thank you for being friendly Jake. It's appreciated." It really was.

"See you." Sititng back into his chair quietly, Bryce watched as Jake made his exit. It was awesome to finally talk to people his own age... His own subspecies.
((Oh I have no clue... Uhm, how about the test the next morning? And he can meet Julian when he comes out with a diagnosis?))
He met up with Arthur the next day at the steps of the massive building where the REAL stuff went on. Bruce looked up at the tall walls and let out a whoosing breath while the man wasn't looking. Holy crap was he nervous... "How will this take sir?" He asked, looking over at Arthur as he hid his nervousness.

"I'm not scared." The answer came a little too quickly, a little too firmly. "Uh, I'm not scared sir. I'm ready." He amended, a little slower this time.

"Uh, okay." Send dummies at him? Sounds simple enough... "The dummies aren't alive, though sir? I can't hurt them?"

Bryce just stood there and stared at the dummies for a moment, completely at a loss as to what to do. He knew what he was SUPPOSED to do, but how was escaping him at the moment. He focused on the nearest dummy, trying to tune out any other thoughts he had. It was difficult, but within only a few seconds the thing began to wither away into dust; disintigrating on the spot.

Nodding, Bryce turned back to the mannequin-like dummies. Focusing on the closest, he watched as it suddenly began to harden into grey rock; transforming itself into a statue.
This within itself was manipulation of chemical construction. Unknowingly, Bryce had reconstructed and in many cases replaced the dummy's composition to something else.

Bryce nodded, hiding a small smile at Arthur's pleasure. Out of anyone in his entire life, he felt he wanted to please the scientist... Even more than his own parents. But that was understandable.
Another dummy began to steam, and then melted into a puddle of toxic goop. Bryce took a couple steps back, coughing hard into his sleeve. His eyes burned from the fumes...
