Bryce swallowed. He had made him laugh? No one had ever laughed because of him before... Not really laughed. "You thought I was a robot?" He said, looking at him sideways a little.

"Oh." Bryce nodded a little and flicked a nut shell off the counter infront of him. "I have a problem with things like that. I know. It's just hard for me to... Show emotions." He shrugged easily.

He could feel himself rebel. His hand paused as if hitting an opposing polarity before the glass, and Bryce had to concentrate in order to wrap his fingers around it. He wanted this... He wanted to try. A small, kind of relieved, smile hit his face and he looked up at Julian. "Got it."
"Well my nasial passage is on fire and my tongue hurts," Bryce said, staring at the dark liquid contemplatively. "But I was expecting that."
((Joseph made this for us: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... ))
Bryce smirked a little and wiped the condensation off his hands and onto a napkin that was laying around. Never dry your hands on your clothing, Bryce. "So I guess I can take a couple people with me into town?"

((Oh good. Didn't see. ;) Lol))
Bryce nodded only ever so slightly. Oh God. Now it came time to actually ask, he didn't know if he could do it. "I was uhm," He cleared his throat. "I was wondering if you would like to come with me...? I'm planning on asking Sam as well, but uh, I'd like you to come too."

"Really? You'll go? That's awesome, I mean it'll be fun with you there... And Sam. If he wants to come..." Bryce was grinning stupidly at the counter, somehow losing his composure for a moment. Was this what it was like to have REAL friends?

Bryce sat there and watched him for a moment, his technical mind forming a contrast between the way Julian conducted himself and how Bryce himself conducted. There was a definate difference, but it wasn't bad.

Bryce's throat caught and he looked away as he tried to hide how flustering the comment was. He ordered a weird soup he had never heard of before and then sat there quietly again, eyes sneaking up to Julian every now and then as staring at his plate grew boring. "Uh, sorry."

Bryce made a small, nervous noise that was more or less reminiscent of a laugh and nodded slightly. "Right... Thank you. I'm sure I would if you hadn't said anything."

Bryce frowned. "That's kind of a massive question," he said, kind of at a loss how to answer. "What do you mean? Do I get a choice?"

Bryce stared at him. "Really? I didn't... Know that..." He grew very still. "What kind of tasks? Why is it called Team X?" Immediately he had more questions than he had time to ask.

"Oh." That made perfect sense. Bryce shrugged slowly as his dinner arrived. "I don't know what I would be good at. I've never really... Found anything I'm good at." It was true. Bryce's parents had done nothing but expected him to inherit the company his father owned. They hadn't allowed him to go to career expos, science fairs; anything that wasn't how to manage or conduct a buisness.

Bryce followed his line of gaze and looked at the Equinox table. "They are?" He said quietly, not so much a question as an echo. "Huh..." He paused and looked back at his plate. "So what's your story Julian?"

"What was your life before all... This?" Bryce waved vaguely at their surroundings. "I mean, if you want to talk about it. You don't have to..."

Bryce made a mental ahhhhh. So there was a nerve he had hit. "Uh, I... Don't know. My house? Threeish?"

Bryce frowned at his empty seat and then sighed. Note to self, avoid talking about the past around Julian.

Resignedly, Bryce made his way over. He still wanted Sam to come... Everything would work out if he did, Bryce was sure of it. "Hello Sam," he smiled at Caleb, not certain if he knew who this was yet.

Bryce smiled and ducked his head modestly. "Thank you Sam. I appreciate that." Now that Julian was gone, Bryce had gone back into robot mode.

Bryce nodded politely. "Yes, thank you. That sounds good." He paused. "I was actually hoping to ask you a similar favor, Sam. I guess upon winning I get to take two friends with me into town, and I was wondering if you would do me the pleasure of tagging along? Julian is coming as well."
Bryce grinned, but only let it last for a brief moment. "Spectacular. I'm sure it will be... You'll have to show me around. I don't - didn't - live near here before."
"I told Julian around three would be acceptable. Is that alright?" Bryce glanced over at the waiter as he arrived and then departed, wondering if the poor fellows have to take oaths of secrecy upon getting a job at Victory Hill.

"Alright. I'll leave you to it, then. Thank you again Sam." Bryce smiled and got up to leave. "See you tomorrow."
