I'm putting up the last topic in case anyone has anything to say. I've seen mostly excitement turn to disappointment on this book and the definite lack of posting making me think it's lack of interest. I'm hoping this partly due to summer because I love Murakami, but I haven't read this book, which I hope won't change my mind.

I just finished the book last night. It was a good story and very well written but I think I would've liked it a lot more of it had been shortened. I know it was split into three books originally and combined into just one book for the english version but for the life of me I can't figure out why he needed three books to tell this story. There just felt like there was so much fat he could've trimmed to make it one really good book instead of three okay ones.

I agree entirely. If it wasn't him, I doubt I would have finished the book.
