Even I loved the book. I also felt that the beginning of the book was better than the ending....the ending kind of made me sad, what with his aunt molesting him when he was little and all...I felt sad knowing someone could do that to a person as lovely as Charlie.
But for me, the main attraction of the book would be Charlie himself. he's just so lovely....and special. What he thinks, what he understands....it was really nice reading about him.
What bout u?? Did you like Charlie?

I thought he was either mentally ill or emotionally unstable. Because when he becomes alone like, during his birthday , christmas holidays etc when patrick and sam were nt around then he gets little wierd and ends up in the mental hospital.

I understand his mind is depressed but I didnt like or hate him, In fact I never felt closer to him. SO-SO book!

Well that's sad....that you didn't like the book much. But then, I understand why and I respect your views. Even I liked Charlie and his aunt's relationship but it spoiled when in the end, it's discovered that Charlie had been abused by her aunt. Kind of really unbelievable.
I could connect with him.....maybe that's why I liked the book so much:)

Well I understand what you're trying to say.....and it is indeed difficult to believe that a 15-year old can think and feel such things. I'm nearly 15 but I haven't even come close to having such thought..:P!
Anyway, back to the book - even though it's difficult to believe, for me, I think those were the things which made the book special. The fact that he understand things, and sees things differently is so special, that it made me attached to his character. Even I didn't much like Sam-Charlie relationship. I liked Patrick-Charlie relationship more.
And like you, even I liked the quotes and pretty sayings in the book! Really wonderful.

@Jessica
Glad that you liked the book! Yes the ending was a little.....unexpected and I have to admit, disappointing. But the book was beautiful:)
