Marti Melville Rarely do I refer anyone to an article as a "must read," but this one caught my eye and held it wide-open, refusing to release my attention until I'd digested the entire article.

The experiment performed by J.K. Rowling with major publishing houses (and their ultimate response) was shocking. Please take a moment to read this article if you are an author. I'd love to hear your "take" on this.

It's an interesting article with a false premise, because Rowling did submit the manuscript anonymously and was turned down by at least one publishing house. But the article showcases how arbitrary the publishing industry has always been as the self appointed "gatekeeper" of "quality literature" and why the public is better served now that they can make the decision themselves by reading both traditionally published and self published authors.
