I've been looking forward to reading wallbanger for a while now, I can't wait to start it. Karen and I are doing it as a buddy read but it is also the group read this month. so there will be a thread for everyone to comment on.

Nadine, I should be ready to start either late tomorrow or Monday - it's kind of a crazy weekend here, but hopefully I can avoid most of it and get some solid reading time in today and tomorrow...and if I do get stuck for time I can always switch over to Wallbanger and finish what I'm currently reading I Dream of Danger) later. I really don't think that will be necessary though. :-)

I'm just waiting to finish off The Look of Love and then I'll start Wallbanger as well. It'll probably be about Wednesday I'm guessing :)

I finished reading my first pick Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8) by J.D. Robb , it was a bit more emotional then previous books but I still loved it. I'll be reading Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley or Letters to a Secret Lover by Toni Blake next depending on which one I can get first.

Nikita, so glad you loved it. I think I probably gave it 5 stars because it was more emotional. Love this series!! I'll be interested to hear what you think of the other two books.

message 357: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11344 comments I finished my first pick yesterday, Just One Kiss. It was a little too short for my taste, and parts of the storyline were pretty unbelievable, but I liked the characters and I think if it were expanded the story could be really good. Overall, it was worth the time I spent on it, but definitely had room for improvement. Thanks for the recommendation, Suzanne - Wallbanger is up next!

Hi Elke-finished my first pick Too Hot To Touch (Rising Star Chef, #1) by Louisa Edwards . It was 2 1/2 * for me, mostly because I really didn't like Max, the romantic lead, at the beginning and because they threw in an unnecessary and undeveloped secondary story. But having said that, I added the next book in the series to my TBR because I did like Danny :) thanks for moving this off my TBR and my kindle! I'm going to try and get a hold of one of the Molly Harper's next.

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments MK - i also finished The Newcomer - I have to say that I was a bit disappointed in this...it was much more of a continuation of the previous book, rather than a stand-alone...I don't think Mac/Gina who were the couple got fair amount of air-time...plus quite a bit of teenage angst

Not good to hear especially since I haven't started these yet and want to - as soon as I can fit them in... But what you describe is how I've felt about several from her Virgin River series and I still love them.

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Jane(PS)!

I finished my first pick of yours, The Awakening (The Marriage Diaries, Volume 1) by Erika Wilde and I loved it! It was a freebie I totally forgot about. Thanks so much for recommending it to me. It was short but hot, sexy and a great premise. A wife who wants to spice up her marriage and the unsuspecting and very pleasantly surprised husband. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series (I think it might actually be a serial).

Hi Pam,

That is so funny...I also just read that! Should we count it as a BR??? Lol!!

I also didn't like it very much!! I sped right through it...I was starting to like Kane and Claire's pairing better than Max & Jules. I also liked Danny...maybe cause I have a sweet tooth! ;)

I finished my first pick, Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean . I liked it!
Now onto the next pick

message 369: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys and really liked it. It's a very sad and moving story, but it demonstrates the power of the human spirit. I knew that Stalin exterminated many of his own people, but I was unaware of what he did to Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia. Thanks to Dee for the nudge to read this!

I finished my second pick First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones and enjoyed it very much, although I admit that I was expecting more.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Hey, Pam!

Just wanted to update you a little: I have been reading Heat Lightning (Virgil Flowers, #2) by John Sandford for a few days now. I'm hooked but my work hours have been all over-nights this past few days so I barely get to read much before I'm crashing in bed or on the couch! I'm off tomorrow so I am darn well going to finish the book. I am going to get into bed to read it now and I hope to make a big dent toward the end!

And hopefully get to Turn and Burn and maybe even Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night too!

~Melissa~ | 2097 comments Joyce Finished my first pick yesterday For You (The 'Burg, #1) by Kristen Ashley this is a very intense creepy start to a series by KA. Wasn't expecting the creepy factor ~ was still awesome. I had a few issues with the H and h but still 4♥. I've already started At Peace (The 'Burg, #2) by Kristen Ashley book #2. I've started Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn as well

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Raquel I started and finished Frigid (Frigid, #1) by J. Lynn today. I guess that's a sign that I liked it! Jennifer Armentrout is quickly becoming a favorite author. Such a sweet, sexy story!! My daughter's will love it as well. I'll be recommending it to them. (Though some of the scenes might make this mom blush when they read them!) Thanks for the recommendation!

Ty | 1943 comments Skandia,

finished my first two PIFM books this month: Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews , which I knew I would LOVE and definitely did and now am dying for the next one! and then I read....

Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning which.. sigh. I agree with some reviewers who said that the first 1/3 to 1/2 was just pure sexfest and grew very boring very fast - plus, I really didn't believe in the characterizations and the author didn't do much to convince me to believe in them. but it was a solid 3 star read for me. I might continue the series.

either way, thanks for the push on these!

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 384 comments I finished It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips . It made me laugh and cry and I didn't want to put it down. Thanks for the great recommendation. I'm going to read Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning next since I just got that one from the library.

Nichole | 1010 comments Hi Amy J., I've finished my first 2 picks.

Glory in Death (In Death, #2) by J.D. Robb ~ This series is okay for me, it's not my usual type. However, I'm a little in love with Roarke so he gets his own star.~4 stars

First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones ~ Loved it. Bought the t-shirt(s). I loved the humor in this book.~4 stars

Thanks!

@ Suzanne, I just discovered I've been forgetting to check in here...I've finished 3 more books! I Dream of Danger, Tin Angel, and Faefever were all ok reads, but nothing really special for me - I think I rated them all in the 3-3.5 star range. Thanks for the picks, I'm definitely not through yet! :D

Lauren (laurenjberman) @Sandy

I finished At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost - I really like Frost's world building and writing style but I'm still not feeling Cat and Bones's romance. Their chemistry has fizzled and they feel like they are simply going through the motions. The story is really good though and I'm looking forward to what happens next.

Thanks for the pick!

I've finished 2 more picks. Wallbanger took me forever to get through thanks to outside interference but I absolutely loved it. Covet went a lot faster since I was listening to the audio version. Thanks again for the great picks. I just finished The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen and loved it--such a sweet, magical story.
