I may be disappearing in the coming months May-June as it is exam season and I will need to do lots of work to get the grades I need!

You guys, it just hit me: I have NO IDEA what I'm going to do with my life after school now. I haven't had THIS much of a life (or lack thereof rather) since August. I suppose it's time to study for finals or bring up my grades or get ready to take French I this summer. I'm rambling now....

Yup so much work eight exams, very very important exams that have taken away my soul, no games, no anime, no youtube. The effort I go to to do well. Oh well at least I have 56 days and 2hrs until their done!

Do you have the "bus drivers code" where you are in the world?

I'm not sure if its even called that but its when one bus driver signals to another bus driver driving the opposite way usually with a wave of the hand! Its a thing every bus driver does in the U.K no matter what bus company they are with!

I understand. But, at least according to my own experience, you'll make more friends/acquaintances in your classes than at lunch. And all accelerated classes (with the exception of gym of course)? If your school does weighted GPA's, yours is going to be PRETTY high! I know it's scary, but at the same time, it's pretty awesome!

Its what I'm looking forward to next year as I'll have all of these clubs and societies to join that Uni's offer but my school doesn't. Notable ones from my choices include Hurling, paintball, gaming, Anime and an Assassins guild!

YES! We don't even know half the material on the test, and they have to curve it SO MUCH it's ridiculous. If you have to curve it like that, wouldn't you think there might be a problem???

I guess it's a good idea to get everyone on the same page IN THEORY. But wouldn't it be an even BETTER idea to implement it gradually, instead of...BOOM! Common core!

I agree with you totally. With math, as long as the student is CONSISTENTLY getting the correct answer, let them do it however it makes the most sense to them. Different people learn in different ways and understand things differently, especially in subjects like math, and forcing them to do it one set way can be very damaging to their scores if they don't understand that way very well. For instance, if I'm adding 47+12 mentally, I'd first add 10 to 47 and then the remaining 2, ending up with 59. However, someone else might just picture 47+12 in their head like they teach you to do it in elementary school. Guess what? We both got 59! Was one way a little quicker? Maybe. But as long as we both understand it and can get the correct answer, does it really matter?

As far as testing goes, at least in my experience (and especially in English), the test has far less to do with the actual material we've learned and more to do with knowing how to answer those types of questions. For instance, today, when reviewing for our upcoming *STATE MADE* exams, I encountered the following open-ended question after reading (but not really comprehending) an extremely boring and LONG passage:

"How does language enhance the author's point of view? Cite specific examples from the text."

This is Honors English II (World Literature and awful), so it obviously wasn't talking about the use of "I," "you," etc. I had absolutely NO IDEA how to answer it. Let me add also that this exam will have nothing whatsoever to do with what I've learned this year.

This has been long...so sorry. All that to say, yes, I agree.

Awesome! Excited? Well, I'm getting my braces off in 10 days, and I'm taking French over the summer. Oh, and I found out that I'm ASMing for the musical again next year, which I'm excited about.
