This is a topic where you can post which Nancy Drew book you're reading right now, and then any other group member can read the book together with you at the same time and talk about the story. :-) This is different than the monthly group read. Let me know if you have any questions :-)

I'm going to read Ghost of Blackwood Hall (book 25) soon! Is anyone wanting to read that one along with me? :-)

message 3: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (buttondoll) Sure, I will try to find it and let you know....

message 4: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (buttondoll) I have this on hold at the library, it should be available to me mid week....

message 5: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (buttondoll) I finished this one. So much going on in the story. The whole Lola/trance thing was weird. We can talk more if you get a chance to read it.

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
I just finished it recently, too! I'm glad you got to read it, too, Andrea :-) I enjoyed it. It was cool how the stolen jewelry mystery was connected to the ghost/trance mystery. I agree with you that Lola being in a trance was weird! Do you think hypnotism really works? heh heh :-)

message 7: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (buttondoll) Hmmmm. That's tough. I guess I would have to say I really don't believe in hypnotism. Anyway, I have to say that for some reason, I didn't much care for this mystery, as I do some of the others. Not sure why...

message 8: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
I don't think hypnotism works either, unless perhaps the person tricks his/her own mind into believing something that isn't real? Not sure - I'll have to look into, heh heh :-)

I agree, Andrea - I enjoyed other ones in the series more than this one. I liked it enough, though.

The next one I will read is the Clue of the Leaning Chimney :-)

message 9: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) I read that already, and I have to go grab a new one from the library, but then I'll post it here and maybe someone can read with me!

Sure, I'd love to join you with whatever Nancy Drew book you choose :-) just as long as I haven't read it yet, ha ha ;-)

message 11: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Well, right now I have The Clue of the Black Keys, The Secret of Shadow Ranch, The Bungalow Mystery, The Mystery of the 99 Steps, and The Secret of the Forgotten City. Have you not read any of those?

message 12: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
I'd like to read the Clue of the Black Keys :-) okay with you?

message 13: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Definitely! Let's start! I'll update my status in the bbok as I go! Be in touch!

message 14: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Will do :-) I'll get it from the library ASAP.

message 15: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Oh- one question. How long does it usually take you to read a ND book?

Dria wrote: "Oh- one question. How long does it usually take you to read a ND book?"

Since I'm on spring break, I can finish it in a day or two if it's the only book I'm reading. ;-) When I'm in school it takes me maybe 4 days, a week maximum. What about you? How fast do you read ND books? :-)

message 17: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) It could take a day, or it could take more depending on how much time I get to read. Today I had 5 hours of homework- no reading time there.

that's understandable. It's harder for me to read when I get a lot of homework, too.

I just got The Clue of the Black Keys from the library today! I'll try to start it tonight.

message 19: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Okay, me too. :D

What do you think of it so far? I read 3 or 4 chapters of it. I like the mystery and am hoping Nancy goes over to Mexico :-)

message 21: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Me too! But I think Juarez Tino is a jerk- I mean, who does stuff like that? He- oh wait, you might not be to that part. And anyway, most villans would do stuff like that.

message 22: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
I was distracted by another book and got busy with school, but I'm just starting chapter 7. I'm guessing you are finished with the book, right? :-) I agree with you that Juarez Tino is a jerk! Now at the part after Nancy comes home from the dance. I like Terry Scott :-)

message 23: by Parker (last edited Apr 04, 2014 04:33AM) (new)

Parker (flipwizard) It was hilarious when she had him meet Ned, and Ned thought he was going to be an old guy! Ned must have been so embarrassed. (Oh yeah, I'm finished.)

message 24: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Yeah, I really liked that party too :-D

I've been busy with school and went on a weekend trip, so I haven't finished it yet. I'm about halfway done, though. I'm at the part when Nancy is trying to rescue the guy who was waving the white handkerchief (still not sure if that's Terry Scott).

message 25: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) (view spoiler) Just a small spoiler. Have you figured out where the diary is from yet? Its not really something you can solve until Nancy solves it, I guess.

message 26: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Nope, not yet. She discovered more information from it but that's it so far. Now she's trying to join a school group to Florida. I don't think I could study for a test in just one day like Nancy. :-P

message 27: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) No kidding- Nancy's like "Oh, I missed the whole class? That's okay, I'll just go to the library!" And only misses one question. XD I wish I could do that.

message 28: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Ha ha! Yeah, I feel the same way ;-) but I'm glad she got to go on the trip. I have a feeling the treasure will be in Florida instead of Mexico like I originally thought.

message 29: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) *runs knuckles over black keys of a piano*

message 30: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Ha ha! That was a nice form of symbolism :-) I just finished the book! I'll write more about it tomorrow or so because I don't know how to hide spoilers while using goodreads on my phone.

message 31: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Okay! But I've finished it- no spoilers for me. Maybe someone else?

message 32: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Yeah, I didn't want other members to see my comment and see spoilers :-)

(view spoiler)

It would have been nice to see more of Ned, but I loved Terry Scott and already miss him. I wish he'd appear in other Nancy Drew stories too ;-)

Parker (flipwizard) Dr. Anderson makes me mad. He told Nancy she couldn't go snooping without a boy. >:I

message 35: by Sona (new)

Sona | 15 comments I'm going to read invisible intruder.i mean i started reading it and its quite interesting......:)

message 36: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Oh, I've read that one! It's very good.

He made me feel uneasy. Like at first he was very suspicious of Nancy and that's what made me wonder if he was a bad guy trying to keep her from going on the Florida trip, ha ha!

Cool :-D I haven't read that one yet! Let us know if you like how the mystery turns out :-)

message 39: by Sona (new)

Sona | 15 comments Superb....it had a lot of elements in it and a lot of mysteries too...but i guess the ending didnt turn out as i expected it to.Thought it was like 'all of a sudden'...but it was different..

message 40: by Sona (new)

Sona | 15 comments Started reading another book:Where's Nancy....its different:)

message 41: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) After too many NDs in a row Nancy starts to sound like a super Mary Sue. I tend to read one every couple of weeks. :D

Sona, do you like Where's Nancy so far? I've been wanting to read that one! Invisible Intruder sounds good too.

message 43: by Charmaine (new)

Charmaine (empress_charla) | 335 comments Mod
Ha ha! You're so right, Dria, especially when Nancy aced that test and only missed one. Too perfect ;-) let me know when you feel ready to read another one :-)

Sona | 15 comments Charmaine wrote: "Sona, do you like Where's Nancy so far? I've been wanting to read that one! Invisible Intruder sounds good too."

yup...where's nancy is cool.:)Bess and George are the narrators and along with Ned they try to investigate where Nancy is.Read it and also Invisibe Intruder.:)

message 45: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) Yeah, maybe I'll look at those super mystery books- sometimes more updated stories are fun to read! The originals are great, too, though. I want to read a REALLY original copy- one that they didn't edit to take out the violence and also the INTERESTING STUFF like Nancy driving over the speed limit and not being super polite to everyone ever.

message 46: by Sona (new)

Sona | 15 comments Finished reading Where's Nancy.....Loved it although Nancy was somewhere we never expected her to be...;)

I want to read those, too :-D I think it'd be fun to read one of the original ones with the same title in its revised form, to compare how the story changed.
