Addy | 5111 comments I'm not avoiding this book, but everytime I say I'm gonna read it, I end up trying to finish another book that I can't put down...or maybe I'm afraid of what's gonna happen. Well here goes nothing.

message 52: by [deleted user] (new)

Good luck :)

It's pretty brutal. But not too graphic.

message 53: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Just finished. Wow. Yeah, I gotta think about this one.

message 54: by [deleted user] (new)

That was quick!

message 55: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Well, I read the first 60% a few days ago and then finished it this morning. Now that I thought about it, I feel like this book was quite a masterpiece. I mean, yes it was gory and graphic but it didn't make me feel like it was too much. There were things that were cringe worthy but maybe I was too invested in Roger to care. I'm glad the "God" aspect was in this edition because it made it more believable for me. I definitely would like to read the sequel.

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

Is that what was left out? Strange. I had the same edition and I can't imagine the book without it to be honest. Without faith it's just a torture book. In my opinion anyway.

message 57: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Well he wrote an intro in the beginning about why he left it out. I don't know. This is my first time reading this.

message 58: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't read intros. Too many times I've read them and they tell the whole plot. I've learned just to skip them.

message 59: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Oh well this one was pretty interesting. You should check it out.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Just looked. Not sure which edition I have. There was an intro but from another author. Oh well.

I didn't think the book was too graphic. I thought it was pretty subtle considering the subject matter. Maybe I had the cut version??

message 61: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Het Traci, (view spoiler)

message 62: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Did it say Brief Note About This Edition? Then there is a intro from a Cody Goodfellow. That's how mine is. I doubt there's a cut version.

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

Well (view spoiler)

message 64: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Hmm. Yes. I agree. I might read the sequel, even though it didn't get good reviews. I'm curious now.

message 65: by Justin (last edited Jul 25, 2013 07:47PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I don't think it had bad reviews, everyone just agrees it isn't as good as the first one. That's the people I have talked to anyway. It has a 4.5 star average rating here on goodreads

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments anyone here want to do a buddy read on born to bleed or do you all need time to recover? I might read the author preferred edition first if anyone wants to set it up for a few weeks from now.

message 67: by Andy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Andy (manicsloth) | 730 comments I'm in, but a few weeks from now would be better. Just reading too many things.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

... I probably will. I think I have an addiction to buddy reads. I just can't say no. At the moment I have a few lined up so a few weeks is probably best for me too.

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments does the week of Monday the 12th sound good? that's two weeks and two days from now. I can start a thread with the start date in the title for every one to see and it will give some time for more people to join while we all get ready for it. if either of you want longer that's fine with me also.

message 70: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Thanks Justin. I think that's what I meant but wrote it out wrong. I did read one that basically said the story was ridiculous but its a matter of opinion I guess. I'd like to join the buddy read as well.

message 71: by Andy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Andy (manicsloth) | 730 comments Sounds good. If the sequel is anything like its predecessor, it'll be a quick and painful read.

message 72: by Andy (last edited Jul 25, 2013 09:36PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Andy (manicsloth) | 730 comments Book cover of kindle version is an eyeball on a fork. Poor Roger...

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments i noticed that earlier tonight. i didnt read the description of the book though, dont want any spoilers.

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments here is the thread for born to bleed

message 75: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments I try to do that sometimes, but curiosity gets the better of me...i pretty much know the premise of this book:)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I have been doing that a lot lately, I think I am on a seven or eight book streak now that I didn't know what the book was about when I started. I am reading a bend in the road on your recommendation right now btw, so far so good.

message 77: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5111 comments Awesome! I hope you like it. The ending, I think, takes the cake. Let me know:)

message 78: by [deleted user] (new)

I read what books are about when I'm deciding to buy them or not. But when it's a group read I just buy it without looking and read it. I had no idea what this one was about. When it started I thought it was two friends and one becomes a killer... Lol.

I went into this one blind as well and was glad I did. All I knew was that it had a reputation for being intense.

I didn't know what this one was about when I read it and around the time that they where shooting the gun and he was talking about how powerful he felt with the gun in his hands and he could undo all gods creations with the squeeze of a trigger that is exactly where I thought the book was going.

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

Glad I wasn't the only one. I thought it made the book even more powerful to me. I thought Tooth was a typical loser and (view spoiler)

I liked the dice, the main reason I am going to read the author preferred edition is to see how that fits in with the religious aspect that was left out of the first book.

Heh heh heh....

he dropped preferred edition from the title but if you bought it for the kindle in the last month it is the preferred edition.

message 89: by Char (new) - rated it 5 stars

Char | 17459 comments I picked this up yesterday and finished it this morning. I had no idea what it was going to be about either. I sure did love it though. :)

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

I read it last weekend and I'm still thinking about it this weekend. Powerful book.

Char | 17459 comments *groan* Really? You're going there? :)

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments It was so wrong but I've been dying to say it. If I can't vent it on HA then I'm just lost.

message 94: by Char (new) - rated it 5 stars

Char | 17459 comments I admit it, I chuckled. I don't want you to be lost.
