I'm not avoiding this book, but everytime I say I'm gonna read it, I end up trying to finish another book that I can't put down...or maybe I'm afraid of what's gonna happen. Well here goes nothing.

Good luck :)
It's pretty brutal. But not too graphic.

Well, I read the first 60% a few days ago and then finished it this morning. Now that I thought about it, I feel like this book was quite a masterpiece. I mean, yes it was gory and graphic but it didn't make me feel like it was too much. There were things that were cringe worthy but maybe I was too invested in Roger to care. I'm glad the "God" aspect was in this edition because it made it more believable for me. I definitely would like to read the sequel.
Is that what was left out? Strange. I had the same edition and I can't imagine the book without it to be honest. Without faith it's just a torture book. In my opinion anyway.
Well he wrote an intro in the beginning about why he left it out. I don't know. This is my first time reading this.
I don't read intros. Too many times I've read them and they tell the whole plot. I've learned just to skip them.
Just looked. Not sure which edition I have. There was an intro but from another author. Oh well.
I didn't think the book was too graphic. I thought it was pretty subtle considering the subject matter. Maybe I had the cut version??

Did it say Brief Note About This Edition? Then there is a intro from a Cody Goodfellow. That's how mine is. I doubt there's a cut version.
Hmm. Yes. I agree. I might read the sequel, even though it didn't get good reviews. I'm curious now.
I don't think it had bad reviews, everyone just agrees it isn't as good as the first one. That's the people I have talked to anyway. It has a 4.5 star average rating here on goodreads
anyone here want to do a buddy read on born to bleed or do you all need time to recover? I might read the author preferred edition first if anyone wants to set it up for a few weeks from now.
... I probably will. I think I have an addiction to buddy reads. I just can't say no. At the moment I have a few lined up so a few weeks is probably best for me too.
does the week of Monday the 12th sound good? that's two weeks and two days from now. I can start a thread with the start date in the title for every one to see and it will give some time for more people to join while we all get ready for it. if either of you want longer that's fine with me also.
Thanks Justin. I think that's what I meant but wrote it out wrong. I did read one that basically said the story was ridiculous but its a matter of opinion I guess. I'd like to join the buddy read as well.
i noticed that earlier tonight. i didnt read the description of the book though, dont want any spoilers.
I try to do that sometimes, but curiosity gets the better of me...i pretty much know the premise of this book:)
I have been doing that a lot lately, I think I am on a seven or eight book streak now that I didn't know what the book was about when I started. I am reading a bend in the road on your recommendation right now btw, so far so good.
I read what books are about when I'm deciding to buy them or not. But when it's a group read I just buy it without looking and read it. I had no idea what this one was about. When it started I thought it was two friends and one becomes a killer... Lol.

Glad I wasn't the only one. I thought it made the book even more powerful to me. I thought Tooth was a typical loser and (view spoiler)

How do you tell what version you had?
Mine did end with (view spoiler)
I liked the dice but (view spoiler)
I tried searching online but I found nothing.

he dropped preferred edition from the title but if you bought it for the kindle in the last month it is the preferred edition.
I picked this up yesterday and finished it this morning. I had no idea what it was going to be about either. I sure did love it though. :)
I read it last weekend and I'm still thinking about it this weekend. Powerful book.
:)
