Started reading The Pilgrim's Progress yesterday. Been ages since I read it last, but enjoying it so far.
100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia MarquezOne Hundred Years of Solitude. Have read almost all of his other books but somehow missed this one even though it seems to be his most famous and a book to be read by everyone! Looking forward to it.

I read them all so close to each other that I have trouble remembering each story separately. I think Persuasion was the last one I read so it blurs into the others. And I had trouble getting through Emma for some reason. That's why I would like to reread them at some point, but space them out from each other.
I started The Vice Consul and it's quite weird read. I thought that cause it's such a thin book, it would be quick read, but not really cause the story is really confusing for me.

I've probably read even Mansfield Park (my least liked) at least 4 or 5 times, and as for Pride and Prejudice...
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich - Seeing as I won't be reading In the First Circle anytime soon, I thought I'd start the ball rolling with this instead.
The Garden Where the Brass Band Played - I didn't know anything much about this when I picked it up from the library so I've had to adjust my mental gears when reading it. So far it seems like a love affair with German composers.
Started Dracula this week, and I'm finding it a difficult read to get into. The first 50 pages were intolerable, but it did manage to get a little better by page 100. Haven't given up, but I've picked up other books anyway.

I just started Amsterdam by Ian McEwan. I really enjoy his writing, so I am looking forward to this book.
In addition to starting Amsterdam, I have begun Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson. I've been wanting to read this for a long time!
As luck would have it I'm currently reading TWO 1,001 Books. How - how did that happen?I'm about halfway through reading Persuasion by Jane Austen. I'm enjoying it!
I JUST started listening to The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins in the car. I'm only about 15 minutes into it, but I'm looking forward to is a I thought Collins' The Woman in White was terrific.

My favourite Wilkie Collins! And the audio version is amazing. The guy who did mine (and I guess yours) had such a great sense of humour I was constantly in stitches through laughter.
Amsterdam--I love his books (even when there is nothing to like about them!), so I am looking forward to this one.
For some reason, I've decided to start several 1001 books at once. I may not finish them before they're due back at the library, but they are each interesting to me.The Once and Future King, it's not what I would have expected so far, but I've heard it gets better after book 1.
Metamorphoses by Ovid I know some of the myths, but I've never read them like this.
The Great Gatsby one of my other groups is reading a nonfiction book about Gatsby, so I figured I better get to reading the actual work first.
The Penelopiad - Very interesting so far. I grew up on greek myths and legends so it's all familiar territory.

It's not. Atwood has 6 books on the list, but not The Penelopiad. But I love the Myths series - some great reinventions of classic tales.

Also a favourite of mine!!"
Really good so far! Her writing is beautiful, captivating and flowing. Impressed!

Oh so it isn't. Can't say I regret listening to it though. I've just about finished and it's been great. I've got Black Water ready to go after that if I can't bring myself to listen to any more of the now tedious Pilgrims Progress.
I've fallen behind on my Dance to the Music of Time series but I've now started At Lady Molly's with Casanova's Chinese Restaurant to follow straight after. It's always a struggle to remember the huge range of characters as I'm only reading one book a month. It's probably smarter to read them all in one go but seeing as I'm already partway through I'll keep it as a year project.I've also started The Grass is Singing.

I hope to finish Brave New World today or tomorrow. Then, I was thinking of starting Persuasion or Tess of the D'Urbervilles or something else. About two months ago, I couldn't find ANYTHING to read. Now, the options overwhelm me.
I've just started Timbuktu and The Sound and the Fury as my audio seeing as my download of Black Water was apparently an opera?
