Which LIST book did you just start?
I just started Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. So far, I am wondering where it is going as the first couple of chapters just kind of babble and meander on. But, I am looking forward to getting more into it.
Kindle: Iain Banks, The Player of Games (my last of his List titles). I was captured immediately, and am zipping through!Audo: Crime and Punishment. That will probably take a while.
I'm currently working on The Three Musketeers. It has been exceptionally engaging and full of scandal and intrigue.
Getting ready to open up Love in the Time of Cholera, anyone read this one yet that can give me any feedback?
Lisa wrote: "Getting ready to open up Love in the Time of Cholera, anyone read this one yet that can give me any feedback?"I have read two of Gabriel García Márquez books so far "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and "Love in the Time of Cholera". Both are great books but between them "Love in the Time of Cholera", is the better of the two
Lisa wrote: "Getting ready to open up Love in the Time of Cholera, anyone read this one yet that can give me any feedback?"I gritted my teeth throughout the whole thing. Good luck!
Amie wrote: "I started Memoirs of Hadrian. Has anyone else read this?"Yep. A wonderful, magnificent book. The pinnacle of scholarly historical fiction, in my mind.
Lisa wrote: "Getting ready to open up Love in the Time of Cholera, anyone read this one yet that can give me any feedback?"Lisa, I just read it. I liked it very much, it was very funny in spots and weirdly romantic. Let me know what you thought!

I've noticed that some readers have not enjoyed this novel, but I did. It's a little difficult, but remember it is meant to be a magical story. And there is a film version that I thought was excellent.
I started "Simon's Family" aka "Simon and the Oaks" yesterday. I'm only a little way in, but I note that she writes this one more like a children's book than adult fiction....she over interprets and intervenes in the story too much for my liking. I'm sticking with it though because it is a good story and probably meant for a young adult audience.Simon and the Oaks

So true, and so sad (in my opinion), Elizabeth.
I am choosing books from the combined list, so from my viewpoint, there are still 4 Faulkners on "the list."
I'm working on Kieron Smith, Boy by James Kelman. I've got 2 left of the 2010 books that were added. This one I think will be ok if it starts to pick up on some depth but my last one to read, The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt is going to be excruciating. I already quit it once. My goal is to finish it by the new year.
Andrea wrote: "My goal is to finish it by the new year."This is how I feel about Gargantua and Pantagruel by Rabelais. I've read about 800 pages, yet there are 500 more to go...Seriously, who needs to read a whole chapter on how best to wipe their behind? And it goes on and on...
Putting aside The Last of the Mohicans and starting Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier which I was suppose to finish by Labor Day!
Sandi wrote: "Andrea wrote: "My goal is to finish it by the new year."This is how I feel about Gargantua and Pantagruel by Rabelais. I've read about 800 pages, yet there are 500 more to go...Seriously, who nee..."
Isn't it awful, Sandi? I had to start scanning after a few chapters to get through it, which I think is perfectly legitimate to get it off your list! There was no other way!
Just started Howards End by E.M. Forster. I really love the movie and enjoyed Where Angels Fear to Tread, so I have high hopes for this one. A couple of my 1001 list summer reads made me question why I am reading off the list, so hoping this will remind me.
Started Interview with a Vampire - with the intent of following up by watching the film. Have got into the habit of DVR'ing some film adaptations of books I know I am going to read, even resorting to TCM to get them!
Started House of Leaves yesterday. Just got through chapter 9. Wooo that made my head hurt, how did the author ever manage to keep that straight?!
