I totally forgot about this! It must have been taxidermy. I thought Lorraine was a lesbian a lot of the book and that may have been what it was but then nope! It must have been the taxidermy thing...Doesn't seem so horrifying to me but I suppose some people may consider gutting and skinning and stuffing dead animals horrifying.

I think Lorraine was having relations in the garage, which is somewhat horrifying to the child protagonist
