Barbara ★ I'm reading my final book Sandstorm now. I'll be away for the weekend at a family reunion and won't get any reading done though I hope to finish it on Monday.

message 52: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Hina, looks like you missed post #45. Category 12 is also complete.

post #45 http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

message 53: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) I know...I keep forgetting when I had a chance to go one GR but I should do it tonight or tomorrow morning

message 54: by jingles (new)

jingles Are we still looking for a book set during the summer?

If so, I am currently reading "No Strings Attached" by Kate Angell, and it takes place during the summer.

message 55: by Hina (new)

message 59: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) thanks! I will add it.

Barbara ★ On Friday (8/23) I finished Deep Six which is set during the SUMMER.

I had a blast at the reunion though it wasn't your typical reunion. I'm adopted and this was the first time I met three of my half-siblings. It was amazing to meet them and hear their stories. Truly the most emotional experience I've ever had.

Hina (hinaj) Hi guys,

From message 38 and 39, using Barbara and Jingles book, I can almost complete a second round of category 9: friendship day. Can you guys check your unused books and see if there is a book that qualifies for the category. I need one more to finish.

message 65: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) I also updated all the categories we have finished...so let me know if I am missing something. I am going to see if I can put the books that are unused into another repeat category.

message 66: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) Ignore Message 65 guys!

message 67: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Hina, is message #3 current? 40/75 finished

message 68: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Is this challenge like the previous ones where as a team we have to read 75 books leaving other members to take up the slack? Or does each member have to pull their own weight?

Because if needed, I can check through my books read and probably complete another category or two.

Barbara, for the challenge as a whole we need to read 75 books. We only need to have one book in each category read to satisfy the mods requirement which we already do.

40/75 is not the correct total, I probably won't update that until end of day today to see how far we have gotten.
I was just using the unused books for a repeat category because just because they are there....and no reason not to see how much books we can hit. If you think you have completed another category, let me know. I will add it.

Exactly! I was looking at this very thing early this morning, and was wondering if we might be in trouble.

Shadow of Night which has supernatural creatures and set in Europe.

I have update my post (12)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) @Barbara --- wow, sounds like your reunion was very intense experience!!

It most certainly was. When you're adopted you always wonder if it would have been better to stay with your birth parents. In this case, no way. Those poor kids had the most horrific upbringing of anyone I've ever known personally. Reminded me of Mommy Dearest only worse. Regardless of the bad, it was wonderful to finally meet the rest of my family. We have every intention of keeping in touch and making it a yearly (if not sooner) occurrence.

Barbara, I'm glad it was a wonderful reunion for you, and that you were able to connect with your family members. I know it is not always an easy thing to do.

message 80: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Thanks Jingles. It really wasn't as traumatic as I expected it to be but I think that's because we've talked via skype for months so we were familiar enough with each other to start with.

message 81: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) I finished Shadow of Night today --- not sure where it can fit.

I will finish Bride by Mistake tomorrow probably and it is set during the summer (which is really the only reason to finish because it's really not very well written)

Don't worry Thilde, I'm pretty sure we have plenty of books to cover it. Weddings are supposed to be fun not stressful...relax. :)

message 86: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) @Thilde, I agree with Barbara --- enjoy this special time with family and friends and more importantly --- the (soon to be) new husband.

message 87: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) I finished Bride by Mistake by Marilyn Shank, which was really not good, but set in the summer :-)

message 88: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) All right ladies!! Congrats for finishing up the August challenge. I have just submitted the final numbers to the Mods (Our Post 3-7)

so we ended up with 75 books read for Round I completing all categories, and 30 books read for Round II completing 6 categories for a total of 105 books read for this challenge.

I think there were only a couple of books that were not used in the first 2 rounds.

Thanks all!

Sorry for the late post, but my cousin brought his newborn baby boy and I get easily distracted...and spend way too much time with baby talk. :)
