I'm currently 33% of the way through and flying through it. How are you getting on with it? I can't believe we are the only ones to have posted in here so far. I can't believe how amazing the world building is, I don't think I've ever been so convinced by a world before and despite how terrible it sounds I would love to experience it and to login to the Oasis.

LOL I'm done I just wasn't posting here because I didn't think anyone else was reading.

I agree with you - it works be AMAZING to be able to log on and forget everything, but one of the important messages in this book is that the real world is matters and that freaked me out a little because a lot of times I read to forget the world outside, kinda like Wade

Yes, I'm reaching that sort of stage now. I am just over half way and that message is starting to come through really strongly. I agree, it's almost the same as spending your day reading all day. I get so sucked into the world of a good book and can read all day long if I don't have work, you get to a point where there is nothing beyond the world you have currently immersed yourself in. It's such a clever idea that can be interpreted into so many different settings in life today. I wish I had time to finish this one tonight, but I have to get off to work.

I'm listening to the audiobook version and the narrator is just fantastic and has me hooked. I'm not sure if I'd be loving it quite to this extent if I were reading it traditionally.

Chapter 30 (view spoiler)[ Oh my, I didn't see the birthmark coming for Artemis. I felt for sure that she would actually be severely deformed or something. A birthmark is nothing, even if it does cover half of your face. I know this is such a minor thing, but I think it's so important that things like this are covered in literature. I'm sure a lot of people can identify with this and how it makes Artemis feel. (hide spoiler)] I desperately need to try and finish this book tonight because I'm so hooked!

I know. (view spoiler)[There's this book, North of Beautiful (actually not that bad), which is solely based on a girl with a port wine stain and how it makes her feel and how others judge her for it. So I can see why it would be a big deal for certain people. (hide spoiler)]

Oh yeah, I can imagine. It's great to see topics like this being covered in a book where you wouldn't expect it.

I just finished it and I can't even gather my thoughts properly right now as I have just spent the whole afternoon in this world. I'm super pleased with the ending (view spoiler)[ I really hope that we get a sequel, as I have heard rumours of a sequel and I think that everything is left open enough for one. I'd love to discover that Artemis and Wade are a full blown proper couple and are currently mid trying to do good in the Oasis and then insert exciting plot ideas from here onwards. I'm sure it must be something that can happen. (hide spoiler)] I also can't wait to see the movie for this book. Probably my favourite read of the year so far.

I have just started it and I finished chapter 2.

(view spoiler)[prologue: I love the premise of the book of the millonaire dying and hiding a great fortune in the middle of a videogame. It sounds really interesting.

Chapter 1: What a crappy world they live in, but it's not so different from our own. I hate Wade's aunt.

Chapter 2: I find virtual school incredible, I'd like to try it at leas once. Wade has a crush with some blogger named Artemis, I hope she's not a boy or an old lady. (hide spoiler)]

And after playing a videogame with a monster he wins the Copper Key. I thought I'd be more difficult but I like that Wade is making some progress in his quest. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Well, we are making BIG progress in the book. Wade has found the copper key and the copper gate and he has opened it. I really LOVE the idea of a videogame where you can play the part of the main character in a movie. I also enjoyed the part where Perzival meets Art3mis. (hide spoiler)]

Now I'm fully concentrating on this book and I'm reading it quite fast. I'm now in the middle of chapter 21.

(view spoiler)[Loads of things have happened since my last update. The Sixers are really bad people and have bombed Wade's old house so he has changed his identity and he has moved to a new city. It's kind of sad the life he's living, I believe he should go out more and experience the real world insted of basing his entire life in the Oasis.

Art3mis and Aech are not longer speaing to him and I have a suspicion that one of them is going to be a "bad" person. Art3mis has just found the Jade Key and I'm going back to read more because I NEED to know what happens next. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9: (view spoiler)[ I'm liking this so far. I'm a gamer so it's awesome to read an interesting book that revolves around gaming. Although it is a little bit cringy because some of the terminology used in this book is stuff I haven't seen used in the gaming community in almost 10 years, haha. Chapter 19: (view spoiler)[ I'm thinking this is a solid 3.5 at the moment. The concept is interesting, the video game atmosphere is exciting to me, and it's suspenseful. My schools librarian told me he loved this book, since he also was a teenager in the 80's. It makes me think that this book is honestly for everyone, even someone who doesn't play video games all that much. Makes me wonder about the future of virtual reality (hide spoiler)]

It's interesting seeing how caught up he gets in the fictional world, forgetting none of it is real. I think she's doing a better job of remembering that, maybe why she got to the next key before him? It'll be a really interesting theme to explore at the end of the book (hide spoiler)]

Obviously the prize is going to bring a lot of power, but enough to justify killing? Shoto is breaking my heart with the story of his brother, and it's not even worth it because he's not going to win. This game is more brutal than I imagined considering it's all fiction!
