I really liked this book. I finished it just today and I have been thinking in some points I didn't understand.
First of all, in the very first page the author says the lost letter would change her life, her mother's lives (Meredith) and specially Juniper's life. Is clear the way Edith and Meredith's life would be affected, but why Juniper's life would be different?
Second, This letter was written after the night when Tom dies. Why is Juniper so relaxed? One of the twins explain to Eidth that Juniper didn't run insane in one day, but the letter does not sound at all as I would expect from her. She just said that things weren't as she thought they would be. That sounds far from as things were! His fiancee is dead or missing!
And third and last, I didn't get the point of the letter Percy receive from her cousin. She tears it, Sazzy find it, then Percy find it again and finally she destroys it. It looks for me that at some point Morton decided not to follow this story and just cut it off. What do you think?

Gertt you hit it on the nail!! I love reading Kate Morton books, I have every book she written, they are Gothic but love how she tells a story! Had Juniper learned the truth I think she would have left her sisters and started a new life, but she was mentally unbalanced, at some point she was going to need medical attention. It was tragic how they lived their lives alone in that big old, cold house, and how it ended. At least Juniper knew some happiness in her life before her sisters took it away from her forever.
