Review: This was a really great book! I've been kind of desperate for a fresh new contemporary novel, so I'm really glad that this one had the words in it. Elise and Derek were a really great pair of characters. Derek had a lot going for him, beyond the fact that his parents were well-known, rich, and famous. I just wish that the book had been longer. Elise and Derek didn't really get together until almost the end of the book, so you don't get a lot of time with them as a couple. One can only hope the author spontaneously writes a sequel of some sorts.

Review: I've been curious about the Spenser series for a long, long time. I wish I hadn't waited so long to read one. I really liked it. It's set in the 1970's. I smiled a lot at the descriptions of the clothes worn by college students and the dialogue, man! Everyone is "man." Lots of action, a tiny bit of very modestly described sex (which is good by me as I don't like too much sex in books). The plot was compelling and I loved Spenser. I will certainly continue the series and I won't be waiting long to do so.
Highly recommended for a nice, quick, retro mystery.
WOTW: Page 125 - She said, "Two drinks and a lobster salad will get you almost anything, baby, " and went to class.
BONUS: Page 198 - The hotel doctor had come and rebandaged my side and told me to go in to outpatient this afternoon and have some new stitches in the wound.

My dad is reading Robert B. Parker series right now. He keeps saying I should check it out.
BTW Ezi my book has Vampiric Fae....
If my hubby will leave me alone he's to co-dependant when he's off work lately I would have been done Friday. But the base was off and he's killing me. I hope to be done tonight or tomorrow morning for sure. I may have to give him a few beers. =D

I'm with you though that the spouse can be a bother and ruin perfectly good reading time.
I was able to use my book for this game and the scavenger hunt too. I think I got pretty lucky.
I agree with your dad, you should at least check it out. The first one in the Spenser series is only 204 pages and those pages read fast and easy.
Ezi - as they say, can't live with em.....you know the rest.

Are your scavenger teams coordinating words or are you able to choose your own as you go? We are choosing our own, but I can see the positive and negative of both methods.

I feel like I should say something about my hubby haha. Only I don't have one. Funny :)
@Rhonda, my team is coordinating somewhat, but it's more of the first person to put what they're claiming or what their book has is what the rest of us find.

A combination of Spartacus & reading non-stop and not coming to bed when he's ready:)
Plus his work stresses need a scapegoat(me), but its actually okay as I'm getting stuff done around the house day. I'm on my last load of laundry, I've been to Costco & Walmart with 3 kids. I'm really feeling good about myself as he mopes.
I've been trying not to smirk at him!
** yes, I'm using the same book for the scavenger hunt, but I don't need to!

I will add the first Spenser to my reading pile.
My team is doing a little coordinating. Nothing series yet.
We did his fantasy drafts last week. Ugh that was a mess lots of trash talking online and yelling at each other. I've been trying to hook him on video games because hes driving me nuts.
You would think between football, nascar and baseball he wouldn't have time to be needy. If I'm not sitting in the same room listening to his babble he chases me down and will turn the tv on in the bedroom or living room.
Men what would they do without us. Nothing.
However I don't know what's worse. I have a 7 month old 90+ pound husky/mally mix who has separation anxiety who gets jealous when I read. He will stand in front and bark at me.

Review
Cicely has been on the run with her mother for years. Only visiting home once a year but now that her mother has died, Now that the local leader of the witches has been murdered and her family is in danger Cicely heads for the only home she’s known. People are disappearing, bodies turning up and it’s not the vampires this time around. Within Cicely’s arrival her aunt and friend are added to the ones who have disappeared. Cicely also encounters her old love Greive who has been enslaved into the Indigo court.
With the help of the books left to Cicely from the prior leader she learns that the Indigo court are Fae who had been bitten by vampires and turned into living dead. The keep their fae powers as well as gain strength but unlike humans or other magic beings they aren't bound to the vampire. Now that the indigo court has decided to makes itself known it’s more deadly than the local vampires. Cicely learns will have to make deals with the vampires, risk everything to save her family and her beloved fae prince from the clutches of the queen.
Cicely is a witch but compared to other witches her skills are behind because of the entire time spent running. Thankfully she’s not alone she has the constant company of Ulean a wind elemental who helps keep an eye over her. The characters though vast are all unique in their own right and I can see many possibilities in the future. My favorite was Peyton the half shapeshifter who wants to open her own investigation business. I hope to see her in the next book. I also as much as I don’t want to love Greive he’s connected to Cicely by a bond which makes the chemistry between them hot. Plus he’s a vampiric fae prince what’s not to love.
I wasn't sure about this one it’s been on my shelf forever but the synopsis screams read me. I’m not sure why it took so long to give it a start. The book does start off a little slow I’ll admit but it’s mostly because we have a lot of world building to do which I think enhances the story. I love the unique concept for the indigo court vampiric fae you can’t help love them. I enjoyed the fact that Cicely lives in a world where the supers are just normal parts of everyday life, it’s my ideal world. Cicely is great she’s not perfect, she still has a lot to learn about herself and who she is but it doesn't limit her. She’s kick ass when need be and willing to spill a little blood to save her family. Night Myst is full of action, hot guys, blood, fighting, and supernatural beings around every corner. My only grip is I didn't like Cicely’s experiences with Lannon I hope to see his death in the next book. For me I was captivated by Cicely right from the start it was hard to put down, I even purchased the next one looking forward to start it. Warning this book does get a little steamy so mature audience suggested.
WOTW: 3% “Come on, baby,” I coaxed. “Don’t let me down.”
BONUS: 4% Not wanting to bother my aunt till morning, I eased into the parking lot of the Starlight 5 Motel. I stared at the flickering light that illuminated the VACANCY sign.
Mandy wrote: "BTW Ezi they are fae but they also are vampiric so it might be tempting."

review - this book was such a breather for me! I never thought I'd be a fangirl but if Spaceships Around Saturn were real , I definitely would be! milo was such a sweet and adorable characrer. he was so innocent thay you couldnr help but love him. chloe was already going through a lot, trying to get ready to go to college and enjoy her last summer at home. then bam. theres a moo-llenium crunch problem and she has to house five of the most famous boys in the world for three weeks. I'd say thats quite a shock. but Im glad I clicked to host this book on the blog. definitely one of he best books of the year for sure!
BABY- "an ugly baby doll" location 170
HOTEL- "I met her at the hotel" location 207

LMAO. Blame the husband. I was 50% into my audiobook when he decided he wanted to be friends again. That just sucks! Just kidding (*well, kinda)
I think I should try and piss him off again just for tonight

This one featured Ashley, an overweight black woman who had self-esteem issues. She used her money to keep a cheating boyfriend because she had to have someone. When she finally started to pick herself up, she met Christopher, a disfigured white marine. They went from workout buddies to more as they helped the other heal their inner hurts.
There were some serious issues in there such as eating disorders and facial disfigurement (cleft palate) that were kind of glossed over in this book. Instead, the author focused on relationship building, among friends and among families. I enjoyed that the most. I think Kendra and Lance as a support system for Ashleigh, and Christopher's family as his support added some meat to the story. It was nice romance and I am glad things worked out well (albeit too perfect) because Ashleigh and Christopher deserved a break.
WotW: Baby "Kendra was going to have a baby" (Pg. 74)
Bonus: Hotel "I'm finding a hotel" (Pg. 307)
