Agree, although I am waiting on the next book it left on in a strange place.

The plot is basically the sex and I believe that there would be a lot of fae politics involved.
So that just leaves the characters and style of writing. I'm afraid I can't help you there as I've forgotten what the book is like but you might as well give it a go.

Honestly, I like it just as much as I like the early Anita Blake books. However, totally different kind of story. She could have ended this series at Swallowing Darkness and kind of frustrated that she hasn't released a new one recently. But I highly suggest it! It is a highly sexual book as a forewarning; as the sex is part of the plot.

Lol, I think the motive for the sexfest in the Merry series works better for me...so yes, I don't mind it either ;) (Frost...give me more Frost!)

In the Anita Blake series, her writing style was imaginative but inconsistent, with lazy character descriptions and trite plots. And in terms of erotic tones...she seemed to want Anita Blake to move into erotica, and, for better or for worse, that's where she eventually took the character and the series.
But her writing in the Meredith Gentry series seems more natural, more at ease with itself and its intentions. Meredith Gentry is a supernatural erotic series, period. It may contain elements of fay politics and strange characters in a urban supernatural setting, but at its core, it is an erotic, sensual journey of the main character. And as such, the writer was, I think, finally able to indulge herself in the sensuous prose that she had been holding back for so long. And the writing shows.
There are some very beautifully written, evocative and seductive passages in this book (as well as the next ones in the series). It's quite evident that Hamilton is in her element in terms of handling erotic themes and the use of language when describing sexual need and desire. I have always thought she was an erotic writer at heart and that's where I like her best.
LOVE LKH!! I really don't mind the sexfests of either series, Gentry did leave off in an odd spot but writer discretion. I think part of Merry's problem was all the Fae politics took over her life and she hasn't really been able to be the detective. Her face became famous and she can't do undercover work anymore. Now she's like Paris Hilton or the Kardashians, famous because of who her parents are. It wasn't what she wanted but...what are you going to do if your a Fae Princess.
Anita cant' say I love it enough. However, I'm kinda glad Richard's talked about but not seen. I'm sorry he's just annoying to me. I spend the whole book yelling MAN UP RICHARD! He's just too high maintenance emotionally.
God did I vent there or what?

thanks so much I love that series and all of LKH

NOTE: You need to be an adult who isn't going to flee after reading some very racy scenes. Please note that there is also sexual violence. Now you decide for yourself.
