6 The Blue Owl
Leaning against the wooden railings of the mountain road Tarō raised his golden ion mask from his face and lit an aroma capsule, rubbing his thumb hard and quick in a practiced motion against the rough surface of the capsule’s ignition point. The blue smoke collected in his cupped hands. Drawing his nostrils and mouth close to his fingers he opened his thumbs just a fraction then inhaled deeply. He held…1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7… before slowly and luxuriantly exhaling the smoke which was now nearly white. He nonetheless fanned the remnant white exhaust towards his nose and throat trying to consume the last wafts of the esoteric and precious aroma called the Blue Owl.
Tarō held his eyes closed in reflection waiting for the Blue Owl to release and propagate across his thoughts and redirect the trajectory of his mood.
It was a Schedule 5 controlled aroma, a hypnotic scent reserved only for the Logos and furthermore legally restricted by age. But Tarō was unconcerned. He had taken the capsules surreptitiously from his father’s brief case just before his departure earlier that week on a diplomatic air yacht voyage to Constantinople for the official Cerella celebrations. From there his father—whom everyone referred to as the Jōmū, or the Managing Director—would be continuing on by tube maglev to the deep underground city of Strata 6 / Brussels-Below in the E-Union.
The Jōmū was scheduled to deliver a speech in Brussels-Below during the first week of Cerella expressing Free Japan’s perspective on the Verified Foods Trade Mechanism. AgriCert had proposed the new transnational convention with as yet undisclosed Trans-Pacific provisions as the latest wave in its continuous war against the terrorists of permaculture. Each week brought news of innovations in the dangerously increasing tide of illicit global agri-trafficking. Alarmists in Constantinople argued that trade in undocumented foods was approaching in value the total global trade in AgriCertified foodstuffs.
The source of the trouble was the Great Pacific.

The book isn't released yet but I've had nothing but good feedback so far and I really hope you like it!
The book is set in 2090, America. As a result of a government overhaul, America has changed. The right to vote has been removed, the government runs like a business and the owners are hidden. Walls were built. To the north and to the south. The whole of history has been removed. Warnings were ignored and nobody knows what might happen next.
The only thing we know for sure is everyone is watched, no matter where you are. At Home, at school or work, in the car, even in the shower. You're been watched and listened to. Privacy is a distant memory for those old enough and lucky enough to remember what it was like.
The story follows on as I dream, wonder and then try and recuperate privacy for everyone and discover for myself what freedom feels like.
The first few chapters are shared on inkshares at the moment (linked above). I'd just love it if you could take a look at my story!

Let me tell you a secret. One of the main characters is named N.Tron, although for most of the story her name appears only as ______. So, _____ is a student dancer at the Takahashi International Dance Academcy of Osaka, or TIDAO for short. The TIDAO is the most fashionable finishing school for the young ladies of the transnational OverClass and Logos in the year 2048.

The cover of Volume 2 is based on Logos No. 299, a young prince of the Taiheiyō-Kansai Logos clan.

Although I like to think that Cerella Occupation is about a lot of things, the action centers around a sort of Food Fight, a big one. At the center of this Food Fight, is the TIDAO, which in fact is constructed in a manner resembling a fortress… just like the crenelated universities we have today, but perhaps with a few more active defenses.
Yours,
