I think I did 30 books while I was still at university which got upgraded to 40 once I had graduated, and I finished that one comfortably.
This year I decided to go for 50 as it seemed a nice round number, but I seem to be blitzing through that at 33 of 50 currently, but I think that is just my current situation as come new job in the autumn I will probably be too busy to read as much as I am at the moment.
I seem to set myself a target at the beginning of the year and then if I get to this time / later in the year and it seems like I will fly past my target I'll adjust it so that I always have a bit of a challenge but manageable :)

Last year I set 52, but I had a couple of months between graduation and employment so I read a lot and ended up with 104!
This year I've set it as 75 - I'm reading more than I did at uni, but less than I did towards the end of last year, since I have a job now.

I'm 26/35 atm. I like to challenge myself with the amount of books I will be able to read, but every year I seem to be in a different set of circumstances! So although I'm blitzing through my challenge, I too am mostly unemployed at the moment, and come getting a new job I might not have as much time! Unfortunately I may be guilty of "padding" with graphic novels and some short stories, but I still view them as things I've read, so they're still legitimate to me :)

Pssh, they still count! ;) Over 100 books on my 'read' shelf are manga. I don't really read them any more but they still count to me - and I've read a few graphic novels this year too =) If it's on Goodreads, I count it!

I've been reading at least 100 books a year as long as I've been keeping track (since 1997) barring one year when I had some major issues in every aspect of my life, and that year I hit in the 90s.
I'm at 58 or so now. I hadn't found the reading challenge at the start of the year, so I'm slowly backfilling the ones I finished earlier.

Wow, how do you guys read so much? When i'm in school i hardly read at all! Maybe its just too hard to put down a book once i start it, so i usually don't start because i know that i need to focus on reading. My reading challenge is set at 12 of 20 and so far i'm one book ahead of schedule (not including Name of the Wind because i haven't finished it yet ;) ) But i counted some books that i reread at the beginning of the year, which i think counts because i still read them. I think i'll probably surpass my goal since 5 will come from book club, and i'll likely read at least five before the end of the summer.
I set my reading challenge to 36 for 2013, seeing that I easily reached 24 for 2012. During summer unfortunately I read very little, what with going out too much and girlfriend(s) taking so much time. Then September and October... were Skyrim DLC months(Dawnguard and Dragonborn) and I got left much behind my reading schedule.... Anyway, I read some shorter stories and novels lately to catch up (oh no! Am I cheating? :p ). I'm almost at 31-32 at the moment... I hope I can manage to reach 36 by the end of the year if I mix some normal sized novels along with some shorter ones! :)
Oh yes, socialising can seriously take away from reading time, unless you have a group of friends who will quite happily sit and read in the same room! :D
I seem to be on track to finish, only 2 books to go so I think I'll make it! :D I reckon I will keep my challenge the same next year as I have noticed that since becoming a 'responsible adult' in September I have slowed down in my reading :)

I do try and make time to read, and my total is normally set five or so higher than the previous year. I am aiming for 185 this year, maybe 200 next year.
I set my goal to 35 for this year and I was way behind for most of the year, due to so many other things.
In the last couple of months I really tried to focus on reading to see what I could achive, when I really tried.
So in October alone I managed to read 11 books and am now ahead of my challenge, only 2 books shy from hitting the 35. I'm thinking about raising it to 50 and trying to do a 100 next year.
I had this strange moment somewhere around August, when I realized that -if I die around 76- and would even manage to read 50 books a year (which I haven't done before), then I would only have 2000 books left in my life.
And silly me started looking at books asking myself: Are you 1 of the holy 2000, or should I read something else?
Then I was interested to see, if I could increase the 50 somehow, without giving up completely on my other activities. And it seems to work out. :)

I can't even fathom how some people can finish 1 book every 2 days! I read approximately 25 pages per pure reading hour on average. To finish a typical standard-sized book of around 400 pages, I need 16 uninterrupted reading hours. The way I'm usually reading this takes me from 5 to 15 days per book! So if I keep that pace, that amounts to a total of maximum 70-75 normal sized books per year for me! I'm honestly amazed from people who read more than 100 books per year... and a little jealous! :D
haha seems I'm a bit of an overachiever. Currently at 359 out of 400 :P I read fairly quickly and I guess I mostly read YA so the novels are a lot shorter compared to those epic fantasy ones and such.
359!!! My brain can't comprehend that!!
I wish I just had all day to read books though, it would be so preferable to go out and working haha. Just read books and write a blog. Sounds like a good life to me - maybe I'll pitch it to my other half ;)

I'm getting pretty close to my 50 target, i'm on 46 and 3 ahead of target now so i'm sure i'll manage, I might even raise it to 52. Looking at my stats, i've read a lot this year. A couple of years ago I read 50 books and in terms of page numbers i've already got through about 30% more, probably Game of Thrones fault! once I hit target I might start a massive epic fantasy book, there's a few i've been meaning to get into.
Btw, 400 is an amazing number, well done! I really wish I could read that amount! I only read a little bit faster than you Antonis

Wow! 400 that sounds like my lifetime achievement goal!!! Even if I read that many I'm pretty sure my comprehension would be ... I think there was a guy in that one ...I'm at around 15 out of 20, though usually 1 or 2 of those is a big physics textbook that requires a little extra time. Next year I'll go for 25
