I really want to read fearless by Emma pass but they declined me because I don't live in the uk or USA

I wasn't the biggest fan of that one, but Abbie liked it.

message 359: by Tati (new)

Tati I've sort of given up on Edelweiss, but I had to request Mortal Heart

Ooohhhhh a new Ellen Hopkins one! :D Thanks Sarah! :D

message 361: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments I love Edelweiss. I never get approved for anything on netgalley sincde I'm not a blog blogger but I got approved for Into the still blue on Edelweiss and it was the book I expected the most since the last Harry Potter so I was so happy. HarperCollins also auto-approved me for all their books wich is nice because they release a lot of books that I love. I also got approved for a few other titles but never got any news for many request...

I also requested Mortal heart. I don't have many expectations but I couldn't help it. This series is too amazing and I got nothing to lose anyway right?

message 362: by Tati (new)

Tati It's the opposite for me... Of the over 30 requests I've submitted on Edelweiss, only one was accepted. I seem to have better luck with Netgalley...

message 363: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
Yeah I've stopped with Netgalley. Glad to hear I don't need a blog for Edelweiss! :D

I've just requested the one from Edelweiss. Fingers crossed! How long do they normally take?

I have to hop off now to go to school but I'll be on later.

message 364: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments Honestly, I couldn't tell you how long they take. Most of the times, I forget about my requests until I get an email from them. I know that it took about 2-3 weeks before I got news about Into the still blue.

message 365: by Tati (new)

Tati Does anyone know how I can increase my chances of getting approved for o a book on Edelweiss?

message 366: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90950 comments Mod
no idea. they don't tell you anything like that on there, its not very requester-friendly.

Maddison - they can take any length of time. They rarely email you to tell you you've got it though, you just have to keep going back and checking.

I didn't have much luck on edelweiss either until HarperCollins pre-approved me.

message 367: by Tati (new)

Tati it's just feels a bit random, you know? On Netgalley, when I get turned down, I figure it's because I don't have a big following and things like that. But on Edelweiss, where a blog is not required? Just feels like a big lottery

message 368: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90950 comments Mod
Netgalley and edelweiss are really similar. You don't have to have a blog for either, but it helps. A lot of the time requests are declined because of territory issues. A lot of pubishers are only allowed to give review copies to places where they are allowed to sell the book. Generally though the same things apply on edelweiss as on netgalley, they're just not so obvious about saying 'only available to US residents' on edelweiss.

message 371: by Tati (new)

Tati Got it!

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) I did not need to find this thread!! I already have a lot of NetGalley books I need to review. I have a Edelweiss account, but I will not request any books any time soon. It is so addicting!!!

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
On Edelweiss, how do I tell whether or not I've been accepted for a book? And how can I see what I've requested?

message 376: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments If you click on ''review copies'' on edelweiss main page and then on ''View titles I may download'', you will see the books that you can donwload (that you have been approved). Sometimes, they also send you a email.
That being said, I don't know how to see the book that you have requested.

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
I don't think I went for Robogenesis though?

message 382: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments Well, the screepcaps are from my account so it's possible that we don't have acces to the same book.
Also, I didn't actually click on ''view titles I may download''. If I had, you wouldn't see Robogenesis because I never requested it and I'm not auto-approved by this publisher.

message 383: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
Alright. Well I get robogenesis as well.
I just clicked on Download and totally random books come up.

Still doesn't work. It just gives me all of the books that I can request, not that I already have.

message 390: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90950 comments Mod
Are you clicking on the little bubble in the box 'view titles I may' and then download/request etc.? It's the little tabs above that that you want.

message 391: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
Yeah I'm selecting the 'download or request' circle in that box. Am I meant to be?

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
Yeah :D Feel accomplished now haha thanks Sarah! It's not a very user-friendly site. I'd prefer Netgalley tbh.

message 395: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90950 comments Mod
Netgalley is easier, but edelweiss have some really good books that netgalley don't.

message 396: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53695 comments Mod
Yeah true. I really like how you post links to them. It's really helpful. How do you find them?

message 397: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90950 comments Mod
The books? I just browse through.
