Looks good :) I followed you via bloglovin.

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I'm going to start taking more time on my reviews so that they can hopefully be more than a paragraph. My review list is getting pretty long so I might get a couple done today

Dory (fishthatreads) Lol. Just got accepted to a book requested in October 2015

AWESOME THANK YOU!

Inky Wow. I'm shocked. I was actually accepted for a book I requested. Awesome!!

This one! =)

message 2461: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 1350 comments I just wanted to know if you've been requesting any new books lately on Netgalley? I've got tons of books to read and review so i try to stop going there. :)

message 2462: by Tati (new)

Tati Nah, there is nothing really interesting there...

message 2463: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) Only book I requested of NetGalley within the last few weeks was Another Day and Lair of Dreams. And I got them both. So summer is for reviewing, not requesting IMO.

message 2464: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments I just read on a blog post that Penguin don't accept any request on Edelweiss! I don't know about you all, but they're the only publishing group that has ever declined my request so that explains a lot. Is that just me - or is this true for everyone??

message 2465: by Irena BookDustMagic (new)

Irena BookDustMagic | 1344 comments It's so lame of them to even put their books for a request if they don't accept any request... I don't know, it's like putting a glass of water in front of a thirsty man without an intention to give it to him to drink it.

message 2466: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments Ugh! I'm kind of upset about it. A lot of their books sound really good and I want to request them but now that I know they don't accept any I'm not sure it is even worth it...

They've never approved me, but I'm in the UK. It doesn't seem right that they put them on there if they have no intentions of approving anyone.

message 2468: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments I'm in Australia so I thought that might have had a little to do with it but since there are no real country labels I always give it a go anyway. I'm so annoyed that they don't approve of them when the put them up for us all the see and want.

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments Expect of the new Mistborn book: Shadows of Self (Mistborn, #5) by Brandon Sanderson https://s2.netgalley.com/catalog/book...

Irena BookDustMagic | 1344 comments Oh, I tought that series ended.

message 2471: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments Same. But this is a spin-off or something...??

message 2472: by Tati (new)

Tati It seems to be an actual sequel?

message 2473: by [deleted user] (new)

Question about books from netgalley. I went to read on on Bluefire and it tells me "no valid license found for this item" does anyone else get this? If so what does it mean?

message 2474: by Tati (new)

Tati Maybe the file expired?

message 2475: by [deleted user] (new)

Tati wrote: "Maybe the file expired?"

I thought that too but a few of mine are saying it. And on the ones that have expired it tells me and asks if I want to delete it.

message 2476: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I got something like that when one of my files expired, but that's the only time it's ever happened :)

message 2477: by Tati (new)

Tati that's weird... I'm assuming you followed the same procedure for all of them?

message 2478: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. I'm just going to delete it and than download it again.

message 2479: by [deleted user] (new)

Ayes in using Bluefire. And I'm using my iPad.

message 2480: by Tati (new)

Tati Setting myself up for heartbreak on Edelweiss... Ah, HarperTeen, must you hurt me so? LOL

message 2481: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I don't have an Edelweiss, is it better/or the same as Netgalley?

message 2482: by Tati (new)

Tati Well, in my opinion, it's worse. But there are those who love it.

(I don't seem to be approved for anything there, that's why I think it's worse). There are several titles that are listed there and never show up on NetGalley, so I think it's worth a try

message 2483: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I'm not the best at Netgalley just yet, I'm kind of new to it. Pan Macmillan always approve me but they seem to be the only publisher that likes me lol

message 2484: by Tati (new)

Tati I get nearly everything that I request from NetGalley (I'd say over 95%), and I've got 7 auto-approvals there. The thing is, I find NetGalley easier to navigate than Edelweiss

message 2485: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
It's harder to get approved on edelweiss for me too. other than my one auto approval, I hardly get approved for anything.

message 2486: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I give feedback to everything except for what I haven't read yet but I only have small publishers and pan Macmillan on my side lol maybe one day other publishers will like me lol

message 2487: by Tati (new)

Tati But Sarah, your auto-approval there is the only one that really matters LOL

message 2488: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments I am one of those people who loves edelweiss. I like that you can say why you want to request a book vs just hitting the request button.

I find I get approved for way more at edelweiss than at netgalley.

For those who are having trouble getting approved by Harperteen i have a suggestion. The next time you request a book go overboard saying why you want to read that book/how much you love that author ... but then say how much you love Harperteen and ask if there is anything that you could do to increase your chances of getting approved. I don't know for sure that she will respond, but I bet she will. At least she could tell you if you live in the wrong country or whatever the reason is you are being declined.

I've tried with other publishers telling them why I want to read the book, it just doesn't work for me.

Tati wrote: "But Sarah, your auto-approval there is the only one that really matters LOL"

If I didn't have that I probably wouldn't bother with edelweiss either. Every other publisher declines me.

message 2491: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments Sarah your profile says that you live in the UK. I am guessing that HarperTeen is probably not allowed to let you access their books.

message 2492: by Tytti (new)

Tytti (tyttih) Hey, I just joined NetGalley. Does anyone have any useful tips that would improve my profile?
I already got one of my requests approved even though I'm from Finland and it clearly says so on my profile. I thought I had no chance.

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments To build up your rating, read the "Read Now"
Books :) it shows you're serious about reviewing books etc

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Just realized I haven't updated my stats for my blog on Netgalley on awhile I guess Edelweiss is next. A lot has changed since March which I'm super happy for.
