I just wanted to know if you've been requesting any new books lately on Netgalley? I've got tons of books to read and review so i try to stop going there. :)
Nah, there is nothing really interesting there...
Only book I requested of NetGalley within the last few weeks was Another Day and Lair of Dreams. And I got them both. So summer is for reviewing, not requesting IMO.
I just read on a blog post that Penguin don't accept any request on Edelweiss! I don't know about you all, but they're the only publishing group that has ever declined my request so that explains a lot. Is that just me - or is this true for everyone??
It's so lame of them to even put their books for a request if they don't accept any request... I don't know, it's like putting a glass of water in front of a thirsty man without an intention to give it to him to drink it.
Ugh! I'm kind of upset about it. A lot of their books sound really good and I want to request them but now that I know they don't accept any I'm not sure it is even worth it...

I'm in Australia so I thought that might have had a little to do with it but since there are no real country labels I always give it a go anyway. I'm so annoyed that they don't approve of them when the put them up for us all the see and want.

Question about books from netgalley. I went to read on on Bluefire and it tells me "no valid license found for this item" does anyone else get this? If so what does it mean?

I got something like that when one of my files expired, but that's the only time it's ever happened :)

I don't have an Edelweiss, is it better/or the same as Netgalley?
Well, in my opinion, it's worse. But there are those who love it.(I don't seem to be approved for anything there, that's why I think it's worse). There are several titles that are listed there and never show up on NetGalley, so I think it's worth a try
I'm not the best at Netgalley just yet, I'm kind of new to it. Pan Macmillan always approve me but they seem to be the only publisher that likes me lol
I get nearly everything that I request from NetGalley (I'd say over 95%), and I've got 7 auto-approvals there. The thing is, I find NetGalley easier to navigate than Edelweiss

I give feedback to everything except for what I haven't read yet but I only have small publishers and pan Macmillan on my side lol maybe one day other publishers will like me lol
But Sarah, your auto-approval there is the only one that really matters LOL
I am one of those people who loves edelweiss. I like that you can say why you want to request a book vs just hitting the request button.I find I get approved for way more at edelweiss than at netgalley.
For those who are having trouble getting approved by Harperteen i have a suggestion. The next time you request a book go overboard saying why you want to read that book/how much you love that author ... but then say how much you love Harperteen and ask if there is anything that you could do to increase your chances of getting approved. I don't know for sure that she will respond, but I bet she will. At least she could tell you if you live in the wrong country or whatever the reason is you are being declined.

If I didn't have that I probably wouldn't bother with edelweiss either. Every other publisher declines me.
Sarah your profile says that you live in the UK. I am guessing that HarperTeen is probably not allowed to let you access their books.
Hey, I just joined NetGalley. Does anyone have any useful tips that would improve my profile?I already got one of my requests approved even though I'm from Finland and it clearly says so on my profile. I thought I had no chance.
To build up your rating, read the "Read Now"Books :) it shows you're serious about reviewing books etc

Just realized I haven't updated my stats for my blog on Netgalley on awhile I guess Edelweiss is next. A lot has changed since March which I'm super happy for.
