When are you likely to read them?

Dana | 887 comments Does anyone know how to get ARC covers to show on your kindle? I just got calibre but when I use it to try and get a cover it says DRM protected can't edit.

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Sarah wrote: "When are you likely to read them?"

I'm tempted...

message 2073: by Tati (new)

Tati Well, Made For You has already been published.

And I usually think that the Americans get the best books LOL

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
Yep, all those Penguin US ones.

Kirsty (Amethyst Bookwyrm) (amethystbookwyrm) I've requested it, fingers crossed

message 2077: by Tati (new)

Tati As I'm one of the rare people that didn't like Angelfall, I'm keeping my distance from that one

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
You mean on NetGalley? The books on NetGalley are loaded onto there by the publisher or author, so yes ☺

Cool. I'm gonna give it a try ;)

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments I feel bad when I get books and have high hopes for them then it turns out that they are awful and I rate them DNF.

message 2083: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I usually finish them, I'm not always diplomatic with my reviews though.

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Well for me I have ADHD and at times when I get distracted from a book or I can put down in the middle of chapter that's a sign I don't like normally I don't DNF. Normally most books I read I'm able to read like non stop.

message 2085: by Tati (new)

Tati I don't finish them and, in my review to NG, I explain why (character, plot, writing style...)

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments For me it's the same thing for ever book. It's too boring no action and it drags a lot.

message 2087: by Tati (new)

Tati Sometimes, the plot is good, but the writing style is just too descriptive, or the characters are too shallow and flat...

message 2088: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
if you don't like the characters, its hard to like the rest of the story, over describing things drives me nuts, and lack of action, or just a generally slow plotlne usually irks me.

message 2089: by Tati (new)

Tati I can deal with a slow plot if the rest is nicely done.

message 2090: by onceuponatimeareview (last edited Feb 26, 2015 05:26AM) (new)

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Yeah I know and you it has so much potential but it is failed because too many descriptions. The key to a perfect book is to make sure it's even 50/50 description and dialogue. Characters are hard to write to me. My Creative Writing teacher told us show not tell.

message 2091: by Dana (new)

Dana | 887 comments Yay, now you can simply hover over a title on Netgalley to see the country restrictions without having to click on it!

message 2092: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

message 2094: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) Just a helpful tip:
Read kids books to boost read to approval ratings. Plus reading kids books are fun and entertaining.

message 2095: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
The sneak peaks are good for that as well, as long as you don't mind reading samples ☺

message 2096: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) @Sarah True.. but most sneak peaks take an hour to read. Or more depending on the length and speed of reader. While kids books take 5 min or less to read and 10min for a review. Or less.

message 2097: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) | 3057 comments interesting. thanks for the tips guys

message 2098: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I always end up reading kids books at least 3 times before I write a review though. Sometimes I don't know how much my little boy has really liked a book until he asks to hear it again ☺

message 2099: by Dana (new)

Dana | 887 comments I tried doing the kids books but I got so bored most of the time. Maybe I was just picking the wrong ones though. Also do you read kids books on your computer or on your kindles?

message 2100: by Tati (new)

Tati Got auto-approved by HarperCollins on NetGalley!
