If you go to 'activity' and then on that page use the drop down menu to select 'declined requests' you should be able to get the number that way.

You can't control it, other than not requesting books that you know you won't get, or reading loads of 'read now' titles. I think that's the point, because you can't control it, it gives the publisher an idea as to how popular you are with other publishers?

Do you mean to publishers? Well, if you are the sort of reader that doesn't have a blog so only reviews on here or on Amazon but constantly request the popular books, then its probably only because you want free access to that book. You probably aren't a great reviewer and if you have been declined numerous time it warns the other publishers off so it is helpful to them but certainly not to us! :)

Thanks! It was a little blunt but hopefully helpful. I'm not saying all only Goodreads reviewers are like that though. A lot are though.

Same.
That's obviously looked at as well, we were just discussing the decline rate because we didn't realise there was such a thing until Siobhan told us ☺

I know what you mean XD
If you're looking at approvals under activity, that's only approvals which haven't been archived yet. the number on your profile will be total approvals ☺
If you go to activity, and then archived, that tells you how many books you were approved for that have now been archived, so in theory if you add 'approvals' plus 'archived' you should get the same number as is on your profile.

*Always read and review the books you receive (even if it's months down the line, that's ok).
*Provide a well-written review with constructive criticism
*Always post your feedback to Netgalley/Edelweiss
*Where possible post to Amazon, GR, B & N etc and mention this in your NG feedback. Some reviewers add links to their review too which is really helpful and easy for the author to share online.
*Ensure your profile contains enough information about you and contains valid links. Update it periodically.
I think if you were doing the above it would increase your approval rating, certainly within the indie community.

Can you see the rating for each book that I reviewed? :)
You're very helpful!

You're very helpful!"
Glad to be of some assistance Irene :) I can't see the individual ratings you have assigned to other books on Netgalley.

I am only up to book five!

It must be so bland."
The series is finished (there were 10 books) but Cabot has just written this one to summarise what happened to Mia after the end of the series. Or something like that. Its set five years after book ten, I think. I don't know exactly.
I agree. I am only up to book five and its bland already.

Do you just post your review, or do you also add blog links, dates the review will be up, etc? I wasn't sure so I just added it to the bottom, under the review. I'm surprised there isn't a place for it.

Alright, thanks! I wasn't sure about adding it, but it seems like important information for the publisher to have, so I just found someplace for it LOL
I didn't really like the second or the third one. question is will this new one be like throne of glass, or the other two?
It says 'Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin' which makes me think it will be high fantasy, and I don't do well with high fantasy.

Yeah, I liked Graceling, but then I hated fire and bitterblue. Maybe I should do the same, leave it up to the publishers to decide if I'll read it...

The George R.R. Martin bit is the thing that's putting me off. Not a big fan of high fantasy either.
