It's not showing up as 'read now' for me.

Katie The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord is on Netgalley - I just requested it, although I'm trying not to request so much this year!

Jennifer | 47 comments Tati wrote: "I've gotten more selective with the ones I request. And there's not many things catching my eye on NetGalley lately"

I am also being more selective. And I also have not been finding much on netgalley that I want to request.

The Start of Me and You is an amazing contemporary! It has fantastic relationships in it. :)

That's good to hear! I have heard some good things, and I really hope I'm approved for it.

Tati THis was the feedback I sent them:

"I will not be finishing this book (after making it to around 30%), as I developed a strong dislike for the main trio of characters. Their actions felt too brutal and unjustified for me to keep reading, and the world building and plot were too underdeveloped for me to keep reading."

message 1816: by [deleted user] (new)

how do i request books on Edelweiss or just find book i want to request or download im new to that site.

message 1817: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments When you're browsing the review copies on Edelweiss there will be a rectangular button on the right hand side (next to each available title) that says "request digital RC" below the date it was added. If you click on that it will pop up with a box. You need to fill in a small bio (talk about how many followers you have, if you have a blog, how many pageviews per month etc.) and a reason you want to request the book. Once you filled it in, click on the "submit" button. Done!

You can also request by clicking on the title of the book (bolded in blue) which will take you to the book's page. On the right there is the same "request digital RC" button.

hey Rachel do you have to request these books?

message 1819: by rachel, x (new)

I think you must have been pre-approved Rachel, because all of those books show up with the blue 'request' button for me.

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments Oh sorry, I see the mistake now. I thought Marley meant does she have to request those particular books (the ones she said in message 1818). I meant you get to pick and choose which books you want to request, not whether you are allowed to request or not. Sorry for the confusion. :)

I had this same problem with Edelweiss, when I used Firefox - when I tried another browser the request button was there, though. Took me forever to figure out!

This comment here explains how to find the titles you've requested, and whether you've been approved - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 1832: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments You usually get an email to say if you're approved or declined. But you can also look under "requests".

message 1833: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I never get emails from edelweiss to say if I've been accepted or declined. I think I've had maybe 2 in nearly 3 years.

message 1834: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments I think you only get the email if they respond to your request by writing something. I almost always get a message, especially with Harper Collins/HarperTeen.

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I've had them write a message and it shows up on the requests page, but I still don't get an email.

message 1836: by Tati (new)

Tati Yeah, HarperCollins never fails to send an e-mail. I'm waiting for one actually LOL

message 1837: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) They [publishers] usually have an automatic email sent if you have been declined on NetGalley. On Edelweiss you get an email if you get accepted from edelweiss, to tell you how to access it, not the publisher.

message 1842: by Tati (new)

Tati What did you get, Rachel?

I requested The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2) by Erika Johansen , but no reply yet (it'll likely be a no)

message 1843: by Dana (new)

Dana | 887 comments Guys I've been wondering for those of you that get approved a lot/ have auto approval what is the secret?

Did it start once you got to a certain number of followers? Reviews? Ratio? Do you have to have a blog and cross post everywhere? Are the bigger publishers the harder to get arcs from? Sorry for all the questions just very curious.

message 1844: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments I don't have a blog just my reviews on goodreads. I am not auto-approved for anything. But for me on edelweiss once a certain publisher likes you they tend to approve you for almost anything you ask for. So in the blurb where you get to describe why you want to read the book you should write something good.

Jennifer wrote: "I don't have a blog just my reviews on goodreads. I am not auto-approved for anything. But for me on edelweiss once a certain publisher likes you they tend to approve you for almost anything you ..."

The ratio helps them alot. I have a friend that works at a publishing company. I asked her about this, what you do (Assosiations, Teacher, Author, Blogger etc..) and the ratio. If they have readers that review common enough and well enough (not +/- but common and quality. (You know what they really want though x) )) Bigger publishers are pickier, but they also have more to hand out. Handing out reviews over multiple platforms help too.

I need to work on my ratio. I requested a bunch and haven't finished them all quite yet...

message 1846: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Tati I got approved for City Love by Susane Colasanti A Ring Through Time by Felicity Pulman .

@Dana I don't think there's a secret really. I do have a blog that I post my reviews on but I don't have a high number of followers and I have only be declined about three out of fifty times on Edelweiss. I also don't have any auto-approvals.

message 1847: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I don't know what the secret is, but I will say that every time I've got an auto-approval, it's been when I've got zero reviews outstanding. So maybe the ratio is the key.

message 1848: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments I am reading all the e-books i get from edelweiss in advance of the release date (not requesting anything that I won't 100% read). But they give you the books 5+ months in advance. So I can never have no reviews outstanding. I will always have at least 10 books to read in the upcoming months. Or by "reviews outstanding" do you mean books that have already been released?

message 1849: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
No, when I got my auto-approval from HarperCollins on Edelweiss, I was 100% up to date with my reviews, I didn't have a single book downloaded that I hadn't read and reviewed.

K.R. Conway (kr_conway) | 3 comments Greetings!

You'll be happy to know that I have no vampires, aliens or werewolves in my books. I am offering UNDERTOW, STORMFRONT, and advanced ARC copies of CRUEL SUMMER - just message me and I will get back to you :)

CHEERS!
