They're pretty lenient, to me at least. Out of the fifty or more books I have requested I have only been denied twice.

Yeah I don't like Edelweiss. They hardly ever bother accepting or denying me. But I like Netgalley's updated site. I don't know how to use Edelweiss, so if anyone's up for giving me a tutorial, go for it XD

You can change your about me whenever you request a book. It took me forever to figure out ... You update it and it stays the same for every book you request, unless you decide to change it again.
I just requested a couple from Edelweiss today for the first time in awhile, but I really prefer Netgalley. It's so much simpler to use, and I get approved more often, too.
Rachel, how do you get accepted for them from Edelweiss? Is it just what you write about each book or what? And what kind of things do you put in your review?

You put a description of who you are (and it does save it for next time). Then you can write why you want the book. I love this feature because it lets me explain.
I just say why I want to read the book, if it's an author i am familiar with i say what books i've read. If it's a new author i might say that i've heard good things about the book. I just briefly explain why i want to read the book. And then i make sure to follow through with the reviews.
Edelweiss has their books out way in advance. So it gives me way more time to make sure i read the books before publication.

Right now they have books for june. So they are way ahead. I personally try to review them the month before they come out.
They don't disappear off my kindle. Not sure about Nook or other e-readers.
But they do want bloggers or reviewers. So if you don't have a blog or have not reviewed before on goodreads I'm not sure how that works.

I ditto what Jennifer said about what she says and I don't know why I get approved. I just checked my stats and its turns out I've only been rejected twice out of 55 requests (I got accepted all the other times) but I have only returned reviews three times at the moment. I just haven't had the time to read any of them yet. :)
Okay. Because Netgalley lets you have the book for 55 days before taking it away and then you need to re-download it if it hasn't been archived.
And yeah, updating my blog is the most annoying thing. Actually no, scratch that. Writing the review is the worst. What kind of things do you guys say? What do you comment on?

If you want here are the books i've gotten from edelweiss. Feel free to look at the reviews for the ones i've read.

Are you sure? It shouldn't be. But if you can't see it and want to just send me a friend request.

I don't do it often. But I have done it a few times for publishers that I wanted to approve me. When I first started I wanted to better my chances of getting accepted. Now a few of the publishers know me and accept me for all of their books.

Oh don't get too excited. The reviews are not so great. i have seen people who spend hours with amazing graphics and content.

Thanks. I was going to check this out today and you made it much easier. I changed it to any goodreads users. I must have made that profile years ago. I really had no idea I did that.

Well I hate when I go to someone's profile and it shows set to private. So i'm sort of annoyed that it has been that way. Plus I have done some Best Ofs last week where I posted my shelves. So I'm pretty mad (at myself) that most people couldn't see my choices. Thanks for your help.

Also just to confirm, does this mean that you don't have any info of yourself on Edelweiss, you just write your reason for request and reviewer stats in the request box?
There are 2 boxes when you request a title, one for your info, and one for specific reasons why you want to read that particular book. the box with info about yourself is saved so that you don't have to put it in again for every book you request ☺

Yes, you can either download to your computer (like netgalley which expire), or send directly to your kindle (which you get to keep) ☺

Also, i don't think that The Replaced is available to request (at least it's not for me).
It's showing up for me - http://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.com...

I can see the book but it doesn't show as available to request for me. Are you auto-approved?

Yes. It comes up with a green button for me.

I should probably stop requesting too, I have loads again. Going to take some real work to get through them all!

Same but some of them look so good.
I had gotten so good at getting through them all, now I'm snowed under again. Just can't stop myself from clicking that little 'request' button. It's an addiction.
