Tati Jennifer, that's what I'm thinking as well

message 1602: by Katie (new)

Katie They're only available for reviewers to request. If you go to the help section it looks like there's an exclusive for each (librarian, media, etc.) depending on what the publisher is looking for.

This isn't netgalley or edelweiss, but it's something that i think people will be interested in!

Rockstar Book Tours are currently taking sign ups for the Mortal Heart (His Fair Assassin, #3) by Robin LaFevers blog tour!

Sign-ups are open until September 25th, and you need to have read both Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph to be considered. Printed ARCs are available.

You can sign up to be a tour host here (if you aren't already signed up) - http://rockstarbooktours.us6.list-man...
and sign up for the Mortal Heart blog tour here - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1z-EJ...

Katie Has anyone else realized that some books on Netgalley "aren't available for request yet"? I've been avoiding the site lately so I'm not tempted to request too many more books, so I don't know how long it's been there but I find it weird.

message 1605: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) I think that's one of the most recent changes. I've only seen that recently with Because You'll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas .

message 1606: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) Denton Little's Deathdate by Lance Rubin has been added to Netgalley! This one looks like amazing. https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/sho...

message 1607: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments I also noticed that a few books are listed as not available for request. I find it super annoying. Hopefully there is a good reason.

message 1608: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) There's a a button with a wishbone for those titles that aren't available yet. Pressing it lets the publisher know you wish it was available for request. Maybe they're putting up some titles up earlier than schedule to gauge Netgalley member's interest in the book.

I actually kinda like this now!

message 1609: by Tati (new)

Tati But it's annoying! I saw a title there that I'm dying to get my hands on, and it wasn't available for request. Talk about frustrated expectations...

message 1610: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) They should probably separate those from those available to request, like in an "upcoming" section or something similar.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) It looks like books that will be available later on next year. However, I agree there should be a different section for that.

I've found that it does that with titles that i've already requested, so i'm wondering if they take so many requests, then switch it to 'not available for request'?

message 1613: by Tati (new)

Tati Have you already requested An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir ?

That's the one I wanted

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
No, that's crap if they're going to do that for new books they've just put on there! have you noticed that Ensnared (Splintered, #3) by A.G. Howard is on there and it's only the first 3 chapters? if publishers start doing this for all books i will be seriously pissed.

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Can I use Netagalley on my lap top?

message 1616: by Tati (new)

Tati What do you mean? You want to read ARCs on your laptop?

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Yeah thats what I meant brain is on over drive

message 1618: by Tati (new)

Tati Yeah, you can. You do have to download Adobe Digital Editions, and those copies expire, though

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments okay thanks

These Violent Delights (Robin) | 779 comments Once Upon A Time wrote: "Can I use Netagalley on my lap top?"

If you have a Kindle app you can read them on your lap top as well that way they never expire.

Kindle app is free if you don't have it and signing up with Amazon (Kindle) is also free

Tati This 'I wish it was available' thing on NetGalley is so annoying!

Logged in to see that This Shattered World (Starbound, #2) by Amie Kaufman was on there, only to find out it's not available for request!

I was just complaining about the same thing. There was swearing involved >:|

I'm also not impressed that Earth & Sky (Earth & Sky, #1) by Megan Crewe is on there as a 'read now', but as soon as you click it you find out that there's no kindle option. ugh.

message 1624: by Tati (new)

Tati It's so frustrating! You get excited to request it and then find out that it's not available for request...

I wonder whose 'genius' idea was it

I don't know, but I don't like them!

message 1626: by Tati (new)

Tati Me neither...

I don't even get why they would have such a thing

My question would be, if loads of people click 'i wish it were available', will they simply say 'oh well, looks like there's enough people interested, maybe we don't need to give out review copies for this one?', I just don't see the point otherwise. It's like the publishers on edelweiss who never seem to approve anyone, you wonder whether the book being on there is basically just an advert.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) All of the books that I am finding that are like that are 2015 releases. They are May, June, July, etc, releases. Are those like that as well? Maybe they will become available closer to the release date. I would think right now since it is only October it could be that the ARCs are not available yet, but they were like for the readers to know that they are coming. Basically publishers are trying to get more buzz out there about the books.

Liz's Book Bucket List (lizsbookbucketlist) | 7 comments I don't mind it, but I wish they would add the date we can request it or put it in a separate place rather than with all the other books. It is kind of nice knowing what books are going to be available early so I know not to request a ton of books when a lot of books I want to read are going to be available.

Tati Waterfall (Teardrop, #2) by Lauren Kate (UK, Australia e EU): https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/sho...

Definitely not for me, but in case anyone wants to request it.

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments The First Kiss (Sweetest Kisses, #2) by Grace Burrowes Kiss Me Hello (Sweetest Kisses, #3) by Grace Burrowes are on Edelweiss.

message 1643: by [deleted user] (new)

ok question regarding Edelweiss how do you check to see if you have been approved for books with them?

message 1644: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 47 comments Click on "review copies" and then "requests" and it shows a green arrow if you've been accepted.

message 1645: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments They also send you an email with an approval or denial. :)

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments Is it me or is it all the books you really want to read on NetGalley is A not for your country or B not available? Why do they even put it on there if you can't get it? I understand its good advertising but still it gets your hopes up.

message 1647: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Once I feel like all the good ones are either US only or UK only too sometimes! I am lucky that sometimes there are ones that are AUS only too though. :)

onceuponatimeareview | 2335 comments @Rachel when I go for the ones I really want to read there mostly UK but then there are the ones that I really want to but I will get denied because I just started but I really want to read like This Shattered World (Starbound, #2) by Amie Kaufman . I only have a 57% approval rate.

message 1649: by [deleted user] (new)

@Once: I wanted that book too but I think I was only for a certain country :,(

message 1650: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Once Try reading a lot of "read now" books. You don't have to be approved so download a tonne and quickly review them - it will boost your ratio up. That's what I did for a couple of months before I even started requesting. It really helps. There are some good ones up at the moment. I'll link them below. Maybe we could buddy some???
