I don't want to question such a great book, but I found a plot hole.
Does anyone know why, if Miss Minchin was so upset about spending all the money on Sara, she was said to 'dispose of' the dresses? Why not sell them to get her money back, if she wants cash that badly?
I don't think that means she planned to throw them away. "Disposing" in this case might mean that they were to be sold. Regardless, they weren't staying in the school and Sara was not to have them. WES
