I just finished Tomato Red by Daniel Woodrell, a very good read, and just started Night Train by Clyde Edgerton. I've gotten hooked by many of these rural storytellers this summer, not just Southern writers.
I have recently finished Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking for recommendations for similar books.
Making my way through "Mere Christianity" by CS Lewis and "Light Years" by James Salter; both have my full attention.
