Confuse about this Adrian quote...

So i just finished Last Sacrifice (amazing, by the way) but something has been bothering me... When Adrian confronted Rose about her getting back together with Dimitri after she was shot, and right before he stormed out he said, "The contract's null and void, by the way." I'm so confused by this... please help it's gonna bug me forever!
The contract that Adrian was referring to was the one at the end of Blood Promise. Rose (teasing) asked Adrian to make a contract of the things he won’t do in exchange for Rose giving Adrian a real chance.
