Have to imagine this will be a big topic so I'm jumping out there. I don't know what if any effect it'll really have on the market. Unfortunately it appears like Apple & the Publishers got their wish even through this lawsuit and the price fixing. Not to mention all $ damages will be in the form of credits anyway. Still what does everyone think?

Mayra Cruz Ortega (mayraicruzortega) | 9 comments It's a shame. Steve Jobs dismissed Amazon's Kindle by stating that "It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is; the fact is that people don’t read anymore. Forty percent of the people in the U.S. read one book or less last year.” He then saw the massive success of the Kindle and tried to get in on the game, but he knew that he would never beat Amazon unless he cheated. And so he did.

Dan (dbarnett) | 38 comments Hi, Len,

I really enjoyed your interview with Andrew Albanese of Publishers Weekly.

My Kindle subscription to PW showed an ad Monday for the updated version of "The Battle of $9.99" and today (Thursday, July 18) the cover image on the book page in Amazon also says "updated."

But so far--and I've checked throughout the day--my Kindle version hasn't been updated.

At least I don't think so. I have automatic updates turned to "on" but I wonder how (and when) the update will come through. And how I'll know.

It's a great and informative Kindle Single.

Has anyone gotten the update yet? Why am I so impatient? :-)

Cheerily,

Dan
