So let's talk about that ending.

Do you think that Alina planned to kill herself and the Darkling from the moment she said "All right"? Or do you think she was actually ready to give up and join him, and didn't realize until after that she could destroy him? If it's the second, what made her decide to do it?

Im not really sure about the ending.
She wanted to save everyone else, that's why she agreed to join the Darkling. But when she said 'My power is yours, and yours is mine" she was planning to kill herself and the darkling using his powers.

I think, even IF she didn't plan on killing herself, she wouldn't have given up. She would have joined him, and would have tried to destroy the darkling from the inside.

And by the way, I am so, so, so sorry for Genya. She had it coming. But still.

That ending was horrific! The Darkling now controls Ravka. Alina is stuck with the Apparat. She can't summon her powers. She looks freaky. Most of the second army's Grisha died including Marie and Fedyor. The worst is that we don't know what happened to Nikolai!!

Oh lordy, Genya, yes. Especially after I read The Tailor, I felt so unbearably sad for her.

I also feel like (and seriously hope) book 3 will be revealing about what the Darkling feels for Alina. Does he know she lost her power? If not, I wonder what he'll do when he finds out? Throw in the fact that Alina tried to kill him AGAIN and almost succeeded... GEHEHEHEH. Can't wait for 2014.

If Sturmhond dies, I feel like most of us will die with him.. I can't wait to read the Darkling's reaction to Alina telling him that she lost her powers.. I have a feeling he's going to be so pissed
