Tiffany McFly (tiffmcfly) In another group there was a forum called "Bitch & Rant" which I loved so much. But recently I can not find that group, I don't know what happened to it...it either got deleted or I was kicked out or something.

Anyways, I've been really wanting to rant about random things bugging me. And I thought I'd make a new board that we can all join and rant on and maybe even give out condolences &c.

I'll be the first to rant because something has been bothering me recently.

Feel free to complain with me!! (:

Tiffany McFly (tiffmcfly) Well, recently I have moved back to New York, in with my mother from Chicago, which I was absolutely in love with.

In downtown Chicago, on State Street or right off the Jackson stop (Blue Line) or the the HWLC stop (Brown Line)&c. there is the Harold Washington Library Center. It's everything I've ever wanted in a library. I went there so many times in my time living in Chicago that I memorized my favorite sections throughout the EIGHT FLOORS OF GLORIOUSNESS.

Then...I move back and have to live my mom. It's okay, I love her and my family here. But the libraries. MY GAHD. I love and appreciate all libraries--really--but going from eight floors to...these...kind of is terrible.

The first one I visited was one level. And then, one section of that level is the Y/A to Adult section. It was so small and none of the books I was looking for were there. Luckily I did find Choke and picked it up.

So the one librarian told me that all the books I was looking for was at their other library. And by "all" I mean a small amount. And that one was a tad bit better. Bigger with two, large floors. But again it was nothing compared to HWLC and many of the books I wanted were not there or available for orders.

It was horrible because all these books I want to read, I know exactly where to find them back in Chicago.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Wow I feel your pain, going from 8 floors, to 2, or 1... That is a bit upsetting. Then not having the books you want, that is even worse.

Tiffany McFly (tiffmcfly) Yeah and I keep torturing myself cause I go to the Chicago Public Library website & search the same books & they're there.

Dale Ibitz (goodreadscomdale_ibitz) I'm with Martha. One floor library...tho technically our 2nd library is 2 floors...it used to be a school house back in the 30's...so it's TINY. LOL

Tiffany McFly (tiffmcfly) @Martha

That's how it is in my technical "home town". It's one room and has a nice selection...just not my type of selections. But they are nice and try their best to stay updated.

Kerrin | 41 comments My library isn't even worth taking a trip to anymore & hasn't been for years :( I can remember mum & I used to go every Sunday afternoon & coming home with piles of books. We now only have one book shop & unless it's very mainstream & you want to pay top price, there's no point going there either.

90% of what I read, if I wanted to get it I would have to special order & wait 8-12 weeks which is ridiculous. Now I shop pretty much only online for books through The Book Depository - saves me money & time (such as the latest Anita Blake book, if I bought it here would have cost me close to $40 - I paid $18 for it instead).

Diane Westin | 21 comments Cleveland Public Library Main Branch is one of the coolest. There are two buildings 2-4 stories high filled with books! I can even get old vintage books (which I love) there. Jules Verne, EP Roe, Bronte, Alcott, you name it and they will have it. I love that the Burbs can have books sent out to our local Libraries for easy pickup. Great bookstores are a thing of the past I am afraid. Oh woe is me about that!!
