Alex (goodreadscomalexsheridanwrites) | 22 comments I've given one of my character's the name Gunner Sparks. He's into guns in a big way, so the name is pun-like. Have you read any suspense/thriller stories where the author has done this sort of thing? If so, I'd love to check them out. Thanks!

Feliks (dzerzhinsky) Certainly. The character 'Fawn' springs to mind from my favorite espionage novel, The Honourable Schoolboy (George Smiley, #6) by John le Carré .

Fawn is a horribly obsequious and sycophantic little brute who, assigned as a 'minder' to the frail and gentle spy chief George Smiley; develops a sort of obsessive mania for doing his job well; to an extreme degree of zeal. He proves --to some extent--very useful; but in every way is just 'not a gentleman,' as Smiley says.

C. Stepp | 36 comments In "Two Thursdays" Patricia Marx gets married to police detective Terry Downe and becomes a police officer herself. She usually goes by the nickname Trish, but the other officers insist on calling her Pat Downe.

Kalena (bookt2) In Jo Nesbo's series Harry Hole's boss is named Bjarne Moller. I think of Barney Miller every time I read his name.

Frank O'Neill | 10 comments Ian Fleming was great for punny names (pun intended)and double entendres. Most famous of all: Pussy Galore.
