The next day he was training a horse to run the barrels. It was too hot outside for him so he'd put his shirt on the deck.

She was walking around in a light sundress, the scarf used as a belt now. She didn't take it off. She was walking around and saw the horses and walked over, not seeing him yet.

He raced around the barrels once more before heading over to chase out a wolf.

She followed curiously, not sure what they were doing. She realized it was him and shirtless and smiled, only bringing her eagerness to follow more.

He chased the wolf out then lifted two huge bags of feed and brought them to the troughs. He didn't notice her.

She saw his muscles work and bit her lip. She hid behind trees and watched him.

He finished refilling the feed and water before going back and sitting on the deck. He poured himself a glass of lemonade from the pitcher his sister had brought him.

She smiled and bit her lip, quickly scurrying away before he saw her. She didn't know what to say.

His sister found her scurrying off. "I saw you watching him. Go over and get some lemonade."

Calla looked at her, her face deep red. "I-I don't know what to say!" She protested.

"Just ask to join him then, he's a lover of conversation," his sister said.

She took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright." She said, put her hand to her waist where the scarf sat and went over. She peeked around the deck. "Hey, may I join you?" She asked nervously.

She smiled and nodded, going and sitting next to him. Gawd he's gorgeous She thought to herself.

He poured her a glass of lemonade and passed it to her. "How has your day gone so far?"

She shrugged. "Thank you, and okay I guess. Not much going on. Dads busy and I got no friends so that equals no life." She said, an took a sip of the lemonade.

She smiled softly and looked down. "Thanks." She said quietly.

He put his hand over hers. "You okay?"

Her heart fluttered at the light gesture. "Um, yes I'm fine." She said to him, blushing slightly.

She nodded. She looked at his still sweaty body. "I just wanna lick every drop of sweat off you." She said aloud, thinking it was just in her head.

A brief surprised look crossed his face, but he didn't say anything.

Something processed through her brain that she said it out loud and her eyes widened. "I-I didn't mean it, I swear." She said, getting up. The lemonade spilled all down her shirt. She was totally red right now. "I'm sorry." She said, her eyes watery, and she ran off.

He ran after her and caught her hand. "Don't be embarrassed. Trust me, I know things slip out."

She looked at him, a tear running down her face. "That wasn't just embarrassing. That was mortifying and you probably think I'm crazy so I'm gonna leave and not come back." She said sadly, mainly mad at herself, and tried to run off again.

"You're not crazy, just human," he said. "I'm not mad at all. It's just sad for me to see you trying to run off because of something you said."

She looked back at him. "What do you mean?" She said, her face red and her eyes bright blue from crying. She was so embarrassed.

He pulled her into a hug. "Don't run off... It's alright to say things on your mind."

She was surprised he hugged her. "But that was crazy and weird." She said to him, trying not to think of how close she was to his chest.

"But there's nothing wrong with you, it was just a freak accident," he said.

"Exactly. A freak accident. Like me." She said sadly, a tear slipping out of her eye.

He gently wiped her tear away. "You are not a freak accident."

She cried some more. "I am! I'm a freak and no one wants me. Except my dad..." She said sadly.

"That's not true at all," he said. "I'm just more than a little clueless about girls..."

"What do you mean?" She asked, pulling away from the hug.

"You remember when we were back at Loretta North's home daycare and there was that boy that would always follow you around?" he asked.

She thought about it then nodded. "Yeah. Slightly." She said to him.

"He was also the one that cut your hair with safety scissors."

She put her face in her hands. "Oh god yes... How can I forget that." She said, her face turning red.

"That was me and my absolute lack of skill in the department of expressing feelings to girls."

She looked up at him, stunned. "That was you? What feelings were you trying to express? You didn't like me?" She asked him, shocked. She put a hand to her hair self consciously.

He shook his head. "Quite the opposite, actually."

She blinked. "Wh-what? Really?" She asked him. She was totally taken aback.

She looked at him, her eyes wide. "You-you..." She didn't know what to say. She was just surprised and stunned and overjoyed all at once.

She blushed deeply, probably down to her toes, and looked at him. "Andrew..." She murmured softly.
