He shook his head. "The rest of them are too dangerous."

She nodded. "Okay. What do you need me to do then?" She asked him.

She smiled and went to sit on a haystack. She watched him and admired him.

She smiled and swung her legs softly. One hit a bucket accidentally which opened the cage to the most angry one who hasn't eaten yet. He saw her and charged towards her. She screamed and jumped off the haystack, starting to run as the horse chased after her.

He jumped on the horse and steered it towards the field. The horse calmed down when it started eating. He ran back over to her. "Are you okay?"

She had fallen on the ground and looked up at him. "I-I don't know... That was so scary. For a split second I saw the look of anger in his eyes and knew he would kill me." She said to him.

He lifted her into his arms and started carrying her into the living room. "Come on, let me check you for injuries. He'll find his way back to his stall."

She buried her face in his chest and started to cry. Her leg hurt and she didn't know why.

He brought her to his room instead, where it was much more comfortable. He got the first-aid kit and sat on the bed with her in his lap, rubbing her back. "It's alright. I'll help you."

She nodded and looked at her leg which was bleeding heavily. She must have scratched it. She bit her lip and buried her face in his shoulder.

He gently pressed a cloth to her leg. "I'll need to stitch it closed," he said. "Don't worry though. I had an apprenticeship with the local doctor, so I know what I'm doing."

She whimpered but nodded. "Do you have to do stitches?" She asked him softly.

"I can put something on it to take the edge off the pain, but it helps if you hold my hand and don't look," he said.

He took out a small jar of a homemade pain reliever and spread some on and around the cut in her leg. He took her hand before he started stitching the cut closed. He worked swiftly but neatly.

She bit her lip and cried, squeezing his hand tightly.

He was done in less than a minute. He tied off the end, snipped the hanging ends, then bandaged it. "There. All done."

"A little but not as much. Thank you." She said to him, and hugged him tightly.

He kissed her forehead. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

He carried her out onto the porch, letting her sit in the comfy chair.

He moved a chair close to hers and took her hand.

She blushed slightly, lacing her fingers through his and smiling.

She smiled and looked over at him, her hand moving up to the piece of hair that never grew back.
She blushed deeply and looked down shyly.
