Okay so the Host has come out recently and I haven't watched the movie or read the book. I'm not sure what to do first :(
When I watched the Beautiful Creatures I loved the movie and now I'm not too fussed if the book is better than the movie (I'm yet to read the book)

What do you think?

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments I usually prefer a book over a movie, there is more detail.

Kristina I try to read the book before the watching the movie as much as possible. Reading the book first does make you more critical of the movie but sometimes it helps, like "Perks of Being a Wallflower" I think reading the book gave me a better insight of the main characters issues.
I saw Beautiful creatures and (IMO) the movie was terrible, so I know the book has to be better. But I have not seen the "Host" because I would prefer to read the book first.

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments I agree with getting a better insight of the characters with reading the book before a movie. I find that most of the time the movie is good but so many things get changed from the book that it's frustrating. It's almost to the point that I'll only read it or watch it but not both. Percy Jackson pissed me off, the book was really good but too many things were changed in the movie that it just sucked. I think if I hadn't read the book then the movie would've been pretty good but I can't say now since I did read it first.

I agree Kel. I want to be amazed by the movie and be more amazed by the book later but I fear I won't really understand what is happening with the story while watching the movie if I haven't read the book.

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments Oh I totally agree. It's just knowing how most movies lately are so different from the book I just feel that I would enjoy the book and not the movie.

It's so annoying when the story is different! -.-
But I've decided on a way of getting out of this pickle. If I haven't read the book and the movie is coming out I will watch the movie (therefore I will be amazed by the story and what happens) then I will read the book and be more amazed by the book and the story even more and finally watch the movie again so I'm happy that the story is coming alive but I can be angry about the amazing stuff that was missed out.

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments LOL too much time. I'll just read the book then complain about the movie while enjoying parts of it. :D

Haha I'm a student. I have way too much time on my hands at the moment! :D

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments I wish I had more time. Work and family kinda get in the way. LOL. Don't get me wrong, I love my family but I can't spend all my time reading, they like me. :D

It's a shame when family likes you. Haha I think it's great that your family gets in the way... well sometimes :P

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments Yeah, its a good thing to be liked by my fam. I prefer books to movies just because there is so much more detail and its like a movie in my head. ;-)

True but I love movies as well because I get to see it all play out infront of me

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments Yea, don't get me wrong, I love movies. It's just the frustration of LOVING a book and seeing it get all jacked up on screen.

I know where you're coming from. At the moment they are filming Vampire Academy and that is my all time favorite series and if they muck it up I don't know how I will live

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments I know. I can't wait to see it but I'm so scared that I'm going to hate it.

Me too, I've been following them every step of the way like a little hawk and so far it looks like it might be good all the actors are really trying so fingers crossed

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 11 comments That's good to hear. I'm not that worried about the actors, it's the writers/directors that I'm worried about. What will be taken out or added? Sometimes I understand, like with Hunger Games. There were changes made but it was really good and pretty close to the book.
