Liralen | 766 comments I read this in January of 2010 -- adult fiction (erm, as in not YA; there may or may not have been sex but it wasn't romance) about a woman who somehow ends up dating someone who turns out (fairly early on?) to be the devil. That is quite literally all I remember, except that it was hardcover and the cover art may (or may not) have involved red and black.

Probably a long shot because I remember so little. I borrowed it from a woman on a plane and handed it back to her at the end of the flight, so it's not exactly something that I spent tons of time with.

Liralen | 766 comments Thanks, but definitely not. The book was contemporary and might have been set in NYC.

ETA: I remember the title as being fairly literal -- "Dating the Devil" or "Sleeping with the Devil" or something along those lines, although I'm not sure that's accurate.

Liralen | 766 comments I saw that one when I was looking, but it's too recent. (Also too romance-y. And the cover's too pale.)

Liralen | 766 comments I don't think so, unfortunately. The blurbs I can find for it -- that she's been on the run for a while, etc. -- don't seem to fit. But thanks to you both :)

Lou Rocama | 457 comments Devil May Care by Sheri McInnis ? Seems a bit too romance-y, but --

Liralen | 766 comments I'm thinking not -- I don't think things went that well for the main character, and the cover doesn't seem at all familiar.

(Not holding out a ton of hope, by the way, since I remember so little about the book -- just giving it a shot!)

Jane Doe | 29 comments Could it be a book in this series?

The Devil's Right HandLilith Saintcrow The Devil's Right Hand (Dante Valentine, #3) by Lilith Saintcrow

Liralen | 766 comments No, I haven't read anything by that author.

Mel (sea0tter12) | 38 comments Is it one of Stephanie Rowe's books? I can't remember if Satan dates anyone in them, but he's more than a peripheral character, and he's supposedly the world's greatest lover, if I'm remembering right. He Loves Me, He Loves Me Hot

Was there humour? I can think of a couple of series that use humour a lot that he appears in.

Do you remember where it was set? U.S.? Europe? Asia?

Liralen | 766 comments Not the Stephanie Rowe books, unfortunately; the book was darker than that -- so while there may have been some humour, my memory of it is, I don't know, somewhat gritty.

Educated guess says it was set in the U.S., though I suppose England is possible. But I'm thinking the U.S.

Cruth | 85 comments Have you tried Eve Langlais? She has some "Dating the Devil" books - but they head towards erotica.

Shells Storm | 15 comments Being a green mother from Piers Anthony has the main character dating the devil. Also Jenna Black has a series with demons, the cover is red and black called The Devil Inside

Liralen | 766 comments Not erotica (or erotic romance, or regular romance), which pretty much leaves out Eve Langlais. Definitely not Piers Anthony (I've read a couple of his books and would've remembered if he'd written it), and...looking like not Jenna Black. I don't think the character was connected to anything supernatural when she started dating the devil.

Worth noting that the cover may well have an entirely different colour scheme, given how little I remember. (Also worth noting that I will not exactly be torn up if I don't find the book.)

Thanks for the suggestions, though. (And wow, there are a lot of dating-the-devil books out there.)

Liralen | 766 comments Bump.

Kagama-the Literaturevixen | 599 comments Was it a full book or a novella?

I seem to recall that Anne Stuart has a story like this Blind Date From Hell
