Diane | 13052 comments It is so hard to believe that the year is half over. Summer is flying by waaaaaaaay to fast!

Have you met your reading goals for the year already?
Are you on track to complete your goals by year's end?
Have you read about any new and exciting places?
Have you discovered any new authors that you love?

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) I am 9 books ahead ... but what was I thinking when I increased the number to 150?

I keep getting sidetracked from my original challenge of 100 "best" goodreads winners.

I love getting better at reading non-fiction books.

Diane | 13052 comments I am on track in some areas, ahead in some, and seriously lagging in others. Overall, though, I think I am pretty much on track to completing my goals by year's end. It is very easy to get sidetracked.

Sarah | 662 comments I would say I am about right where I should be to meet all my goals by the end of the year. I have been involved with multiple reading challenges - books of the month - buddy reads. This is new for me this year. A little ahead in some areas and a little behind on others - but essentially on track. May get behind though this next part of the year. I have had more free time lately. My goal was 55 books this year and I am not worried about this - it is the little challenges I have set - but I would like to complete everything.

Right now I am reading The Lost Girls: Three Friends. Four Continents. One Unconventional Detour Around the World. and I feel I have learned a lot about the places these girls visit - Kenya and an ashram in south India. I feel like I am traveling with these women and getting a glimpse into their adventures and discoveries. Also reading The Caliph's House: A Year in Casablanca really whisked me away to Morocco. These are the two books this year I really felt I traveled - both actual travel memoirs.

Dee (austhokie) | 438 comments i'm on track with my normal reading goal, but been struggling on my around the world books this year - starting to get to some of the harder countries, so its been work finding books

Dee, anything we can help you locate?

dely | 368 comments I'm on track with the reading challenge of GR but have some problems with the other challenges: roughly good my "passage through India" but not very good my personal challenge with books with or about cats. I find always other books to read and so I postpone the books with cats. It is also hard to find books for my circumnavigator; well, it wouldn't be difficult by I like to read several books about the same country to deepen the knowledge about it and so when I choose a book to read I choose always the same countries.

Ellinor (1001andmore) | 853 comments I'm ca. 25 books ahead of my year-long GR reading goal. I'm also a little ahead of my US-roadtrip challenge and doing quite well for most of my other challenges in other groups.
I need to speed up with my ATW challenge here. I don't know if I'll be able to read books from 80 countries for it until the end of the year. SO I'll probably just change it into a circumnavigator next year. The US challenge has priority at the moment because I'm positive that I'll be able to finish it this year.

Yvonne (ysareader) | 82 comments I'm ahead on my GR reading goals but way behind on the Around the World goals. I don't think I'll catch up on that one.

Valerie Brown | 90 comments I definitely on track, and maybe ahead!

I do wish I was a little further ahead in my North America/CentralA/SouthA road trip, but the biggest hold up is waiting for inter-library loans to come. Our little library is lacking in books set in Central American countries (not surprisingly, considering we're in the middle of Niagara).

I do like this group because it has either made me read books I've meant to (eg. The Power and the Glory ), or exposed me to books/authors that I haven't read previously. The other interesting side note that I've noticed, is that even though I read a lot, it seems I most often read books set in Great Britain (almost half of my 54 books read). That is exactly why I need to keep on my road trip!!

Suzanne | 96 comments I'm pleasantly surprised to be ahead of goal for ATW, although I went for Tourist, so maybe next year I should strive higher.

Numberswise, I'm more than halfway through the US (32 states to date), but I'm getting down to some of the hard to find states. I'm going to have to make a concerted effort on this one, but I think I'll make it!

Susan | 394 comments Now that I have been a trekker for a year, I think I may change my plans. I am really surprised at how uninterested I feel in reading European books. I would like to remove my circumnavigation thread and start a new one. Do you care? I just want to let you know for the reading board.

That's fine. No problem.

Anne (papergirl42) | 328 comments I am just three books shy of my usual annual reading goal......and it is late August. I have 23 books to reach my goal. However, reach it or not, I have had a very stimulating reading year and look forward to starting out again next year. the challenge to read only, one book per country has freed me from Europe and the US. Thanks.
